DVD version vs Xbox Live Marketplace Version

Hi. Recently messed up my BL disk and was wondering if I downloaded the game from the Marketplace if it would pick up where the disk left off, keeping my characters and achievements or if it would register as a completely new game. Would I be better off going down to Gamestop and picking up another disk ?

I'm absolutely sure it would work exactly the same... the only even slightly possible way this could be incorrect is if you have the Japanese version of borderlands (which shows up as "Borderlands (JP)" in your achievements/on the dashboard)and the XBL marketplace gives you the standard one (which I'm one-hundred and pi (I really like the number pi) percent sure it would, regardless of which version you've played). I hope I've been of some help.
