Not really they wanted what was said to be in the first vault and Jack promised Vault hunters more money then your wildest dreams sounds like they want money to me its kind of hard to miss the fact

I think it might be a vault, but it didn't actually open. It was merely a means for Torgue to start a tournament, and the lootsplosion was of his own making.

I'd be severely disappointed with the Eridians really thought 10 whites, 6 greens, 3 blues, and 1 purple were important enough to hide in a vault, especially when the last two known vaults had super-weaponized monsters in them. It really doesn't fit with their standard operating procedure.

Did we ever find out the real name of the crater after Tannis was cut off in the intro?

C) Torgue used us to open it and kept the real rewards for himself.

Remember the intro? Tannis said the vault would only open "once the champion of Pandora feeds it the blood of the ultimate coward."

Many points throughout the game are we called a coward and Piston is referred to as a champ, BUT there is plenty of evidence proving that the opposite roles are true.

There is something going on behind the scenes here but no way to be sure what.

I think that it was a pre-raided vault. There is a few good reasons why i think this.
NO key Vaults need keys, this one is hidden behind a metal grate.
Handsome jack and his resources: This Vault is maximum of 30 ft below ground level. Do you not think Jack would have discovered that and opened it withing minutes.. His army, no key needed etc.

I think that the Vault is a lure to get the by now famous vault hunters into Torgue's competition.
He found some Eridian laced rocks, threw in some junk terra drops, and called it a prize.
