Lightbulb Homeworld on GOG.com

Hey all,

Now that Gearbox owns Homeworld, I would like to offer up a proposition. I don't have anything against Steam, but I've developed a love of GOG.com as the "home of Good Old Games". As such (and because of awesome stuff like the DRM-free and free bonus goodies like soundtracks, and a good community), I tend to buy newer games on Steam while I buy older titles on GOG.

I would like to propose (if any Gearbox staff happen across this) that Gearbox be willing, if GOG contacts them, to release the Homeworld games on GOG, preferably with the awesome soundtracks as free bonus content. I know this probably reeks of fanboyism, and it is to some degree, but I've purchased games across a variety of platforms (Steam, Amazon, dotEmu, etc.) I don't believe in "mindlessly" supporting one single store, instead taking my business where the best deals are, but I also want to support good business practices, and I believe GOG has performed those.

In this case, because Homeworld has been so high up on the GOG wishlist for so long, as a gesture of support to those people who have waited so long, I do not plan on purchasing it on Steam but will wait for Homeworld to appear on GOG.com.

I'd buy it on steam, wouldn't buy it on GOG. I like having all my games in 1 place, under 1 tab

Nothing against gog, I'm sure they do good things and I'd have exactly zero issues with it being on sale there, I'd just like it on steam too

That's certainly your choice. I'm the opposite in this case. I have some games on Steam, but I prefer GOG for older titles + bonus goodies.

GOG= DRM free.
Steam = DRM.

That means, if/when steam dies, you can STILL play your game, since you don't have any DRM to worry about!

I'd like for both Homeworld 1 and 2 to be available on GOG and Steam so everyone can get the flavor they prefer Personally I'd take the GOG version over Steam any day.
