Default Skyline's Anime Blog - Fall '10

Another season; another thread.

So the format will still be the same. I'll still be watching, updating, and giving brief, or not so brief, opinions on what I watch. This time though, there's no real set goal as school has started. I'll watch it whenever I don't feel the need to game and there's no schoolwork in the way.

Here's the Summer thread, for past reference, and its awards post.

--------

So once again, here's my weekly lineup of anime releases:

Non-Weekly:

Completed During the Season:
Completed Anime Checklist:

*More will be added as I go along of course. Never know what several minutes of searching will do for ya.*

-----------

For fun sakes:

http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com...te.php?u=46826

*Refer to the last user note for some of my music favorites. They come from both anime songs and their albums released. Course, that is if you're interested in Japanese music.*

-----------

One last thing:

Like always, feel free to suggest anything I should watch. I'm open-minded on most fronts, and I do mean most, I.E. Strike Witches, so I don't mind going outside of my normal habits.

I still have to comb through the list that was provided in the Summer thread, so if you suggested something there, it'll most likely be watched soon..If I have the time of course.

So, away I go with another season. First update will be tonight. Now if only I bother to update my MAL profile.. Last Update: July 6th.

According to my anime folder:

There are 92 unique animation productions in my folder, excluding sub-folders that include 2nd seasons, movies, OVA's, etc.. Either 84 or 85 of them I have either fully watched, series wise, or is currently airing. 1 being that I haven't watched the OVA's yet but are on my HD for sure.

I really don't watch the additional OVA's on something unless one of the fansubs I followed finished the project and provided the OVA afterwards. At which point, I'm like, "Hey, might as well watch it."

There are about 2,250 videos in this folder. About 2,170 of them watched, judging by the length of the 4 animes that I posted on the OP that I have on-hand. There's actually a 5th, and I'll add that in now since I forgot it.

------

You know when I first started watching anime, I rounded my starting year to 2009 since I didn't really start till after the year passed so its been almost 2 years since I started. If you want to hear the story of December 18th, 2008, you are free to ask. I was actually aiming to watch an entire month of anime per year. Then I realized how absurd that was. I can do a month of gaming easily a year, well in fact, I almost did over the summer, but I eventually came to realize that I'll just watch at my own pace. I guess I felt the need to get competitive with my friends but hey, now, its just me, my couch, and my anime.

@Hobo: That's what I'm here for: Just as a basic source of anime. I know people don't post in here a whole lot anymore but I'll keep on going for the people who view this.

----------

So since 2 things are happening at once:

1) I'm digging for anime.
2) I'm craving to play Plants vs. Zombies before bed.

Here's your first update. Very small. But hey, update's an update:

Episodes Watched:
  • K-On!! - Episode 22 *THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE MY FIRST FALL EPISODE DAMN IT! DAMN YOU ******YS!*
  • Ookami-San - Episode 10
  • Amagami SS - Episode 10 * "Woaw woaw woaw Sky, Amagami is on FRIDAY!" Hey, not my fault they released fast.* * Watching this when I wake up tomorrow.*

First "Finished" Anime for this Season's thread:
  • Hellsing:

So, first things first: Who likes watching psychopaths? Okay, who likes vampires? Lastly, who likes some form of badassery? If you said yes to at least 2 of the 3, then you may want to consider this. The main star of the show being Arucard, the character who's made up of the three questions I just asked. There's this insane, demonic aura around him when you first see him, but its not the aura in most situations. This aura is more like, its reasonable rather than uncontrollable, despite his devilish characteristics. If you want examples, see the OP, aka the first thing you see in the first episode. That pretty much sums up what you're going to be seeing. It actually freaked me out what was occurring within the first few episodes, considering how out of bounds the entire concept was compared to anything else really that I've watched. However, it kept me interested for almost the entire anime. Once the interest wore off though, it kinda showed its flaws a lot. In that sense, once you get towards the end of the anime, you may feel a sense that the plot was completely rushed, much like almost every anime series / OVA series under 12 - 13 episodes, as it could of easily, and I mean easily became a 24 episode series with the possible ways it could have expanded. That really hit me a lot, especially considering the fact that I was so interested at the start. Well, I can't help it I guess.

Overall..I'm really not sure what to say. It gets a manageable 8/10. It can either go down or up. Just depends on your preference. I hope the OVA's make up for this though.

--------

Forgot one thing to add to the OP:

So I decided to add a little something to the end of my user notes for music tracking purposes. If you're interested, feel free to look at it. I'll expand it on over time I guess.

Sky, when you watch the Hellsing OVA's, you will **** bricks. Serious. The series was good, but it's NOTHING compared to the OVA's. Serious.
