Yeah it wierded me out too. Most Tediore legendary bodies are modified versions of body3, but for the Guardian the calc says it is a modified body4 instead.

Just one note: You mentioned that Maliwan material three is the best. But unless I'm mistaken that's not always the case.
Using Gear Calculator to build some sample Firehawks is a good example. The material two Nasty Firehawks seem to be better overall than the material three Cobalt Firehawks. Nasty has more damage, more tech, and a bigger magazine. Cobalt offers only a negligible 0.5 accuracy boost. Material two makes for an inarguably superior weapon. hi

The Cobalt material itself is better than mat2. Though mat2 occasionally has a higher potential because of the lower priority on the material prefix. But I guess it is worth noting that on repeaters mat2 is potentially better than 3 due to the ability of gaining the Nasty prefix.
Similarly, I think mat1 Fearsome Volcanoes are superior to mat3 Cobalt versions, but others seem to disagree.

Well, it seems like you're giving up a tiny bit of accuracy for a tiny bit of extra damage, but these numbers don't seem like that big a deal. Specifically, switching from material three to material one improves damage by about 1.0 - 1.6% and lowers accuracy by about 0.3 - 0.4%. I'd be inclined to call that tradeoff more of a wash, all but unnoticable in play.

Yeah I guess it's probably because I tend to use Volcanoes more mid range, so accuracy isn't much of a big deal to me. And Maliwans tend to have very high accuracy anyway. But, like you said, it probably won't make any significant difference in combat.

/ninja'd mid posting!.... well, at least here are the actual differences!
![]() The differences are, a slight win in damage (+13)for the mat1, and a win in spread (.05) and reload (.6 of a second) time for mat 3... End up with better dps (14dps....) for the mat3 cobalt version..not by a lot mind you! Tiss a shame that mat2 blue cant get fearsome too! In the end, unless your a math freak and a perfectionist....you will NEVER really notice a performance difference...

^ Yeah, this.
I cover the part about lower materials getting better prefixes in the Naming section of the guide.

A quick edit to the op. It turns out the burst affect from the Rage accessory actually comes from the Rage title rather than the accessory itself, so legendary or pearlescent MPs with the Rage accessory cannot have burst fire.

K0rN b4LL, I never took the time to thank you for the awesome guideline. Don't understand why it was never sticky. . . . I printed a copy and been reading thru it and this what I ended up doing . . I took some of the most important information from your guideline and created a MS Excel spread sheet and summarized it on one page. So I call it my Cheat Sheet and I now use it when I'm playing the game to better understand the weapons.
On my Cheat Sheet, I summarize all the Materials, all the Bodies and the Barrels for every weapon and manufacturer. The parts that I'm still having problems understanding is the Accesories, Stock and Action. I still haven't read the section on "The Legendary and Pearlescent Unique Parts" and the section on "Weapon Naming" So great guide, awesome job ![]() And here's a picture of my cheat sheet ![]()
