Default Pure virtual function call

Just downloaded the new patch on Steam the other day. Tried running it this morning and get 3 errors during the opening Logos. Right after the Nvidia logo finishes and the miscellaneous tools logos pop up.

- First one is a general Runtime error message in the Borderlands exe.
- Second says "Pure virtual function being called while application was running (GIsRunning == 1)".
- Third says "R6025 -pure virtual function call".

After that the game just closes. Tried verifying the game cache, and it fixed 2 files, but not the problem.

Don't you guys know you can't call pure virtual functions? :-P

The first thing to try would be to install all the C++ runtime redistributables.

I have VS 2010 Express (C++ and C#) installed on my system for my own development. As I recall it installed the runtimes when I downloaded it originally as well. It was working fine pre-patch.

A pure virtual function call is a programming error, regardless. Nobody else is getting this?

Tried disabling the opening movies and it will now just crash on the engine logos directly at startup.

Google suggests that most people have fixed the error through reinstalling / verifying. Try again?

Well verifying the game cache didn't fix it, so I guess I have to redownload. :-/ That sucks. I'll update once it's done.

I see 2 years have passed but this issue is still happening. I am having the same Issue marsh describes, exactly at the same time (After having 52 hours of play without any issues so far)
Now I have re-downloaded it after seeing there is no fix for this and still, the issue hasn't gone.
Is there anyone that knows how to solve this issue?

Thank you in advance

This would be a good place to start.
