Default Steamworks Support on PC

2K Games and Gearbox Software today officially announced that the PC release of Duke Nukem Forever will incorporate Steamworks.

What does this mean for you?

It means that regardless of where or how you buy Duke Nukem Forever on PC, your purchase will be tied to your Steam account, ensuring that you'll always be able to install a copy of the game even if you lose your disc.

If you've got any questions, and undoubtedly some of you will, let us know in the comments below.

EDIT: This post contains answers to some of the most common questions regarding Steam and Steamworks.

360 version for me, so I have no use for it. But it's been fine with the games I do have on PC, so I'm sure DNF will be fine.

I have just about all of my games on Steam, but for some reason, I feel rather disappointed. I don't like buying retail box copies if I could've just bought it from home. I did that with Civ V, and I felt a little silly for wasting money on the sales tax.

Great news!

But this poses the following question: why doesn't this game have its own Steam Store page yet?

Gearbox is a pretty cool guy. He puts the best game on Steam and doesn't afraid of anything.

Great news! These days all my PC library is on Steam, so purchasing any Steamworks game is always a plus for me, and i like all the features and community integrations Steamworks provides for the PC players.
