Default Can't install borderlands add on disc 2 from GOTY on xbox 360

Hi,
I don't know if this has been asked before but I don't know how to search for this on this forum. my apologies for asking this but:

I just bought the GOTY Borderlands discs and I can't install disc 2 add on content. It says I need a hard disk. I have 2.2 gb free hard drive (its a 4 gb drive total) and 14.5 gb free usb drive.

Any Ideas please?

What did you try installing it to? I believe 5.2 total is required for all the DLC, but by hard disk does it mean a Hard Drive? Have you tried to have it saved to your usb?

When they released the 4gb xbox it failed and says you don't have a harddrive

I dunno why the USB isn't working tho

All of the DLC requires ~4.5 GBs of storage space. Individually they require much less with Knoxx needing the most at ~1.7 GB. My advice would be to install them individually or in pairs as your 4 GB HD can handle that. Also, I'm fairly certain you cannot use a USB HD to store anything game related, including DLC (save files might be the only exception). The only other alternative would be to upgrade your HD.

The problem is with the installation software. It assumes only a HDD is big enough for game files because it was written before the update to allow up to 32 GB of flash-drive storage. If you borrow someone's HDD, install the DLC to it, then *move* the DLC files to your flash storage, it will work fine (assuming you have enough of it to fit your DLC).

Your only option is this:

1) Buy an 8GB or higher USB stick for $20 or so
2) Find a friend with a 360 and a HDD with at least 5GB space
3) Install the DLC to your friend's console
4) Move the DLC to your USB stick
5) Buy your buddy a beer for being helpful

I had this issue with my brother--I bought him the GOTY, and he has a new Slim with only 4GB internal memory. We tried installing to a stick, but the system demanded an HDD. It's one of the prices you pay to save $100 on a console. I don't think there's any other workaround--the game needs access to a full 5GB of storage space to access DLC.

The hdd on the new xbox is one of the reasons I opted for the older one. There are YouTube videos however on how to install a hdd in the expansion bay, doesn't fit quite right so you need something to hold it up, but it works.

I bought borderlands GOTY edition a few weeks ago. After I beat the campaign, I tried to use the add on disc. I put the add on disc in my console, and it said play game on the dashboard. So I pressed play game. But after a few seconds, it says unrecognizable disc at the top and then the usual for when a game is too scratched. I've tried it multiple times and even on my brothers xbox and it still has yet to work. Am I doing it right? Please help!
