Hello,
I have opened a couple tickets with Steam but they haven't responded in over a week so I'm getting very frustrated with their lack of response and not being able to play Borderlands. The game downloads to apparently 100%, but then goes to a paused download. When I click on play, I get... Steam Error This game is currently unavailable. I have followed several forums suggestions that said to verify the integrity of the files, update drivers, update Steam, and I have also deleted the download and redownloaded it with no luck. I'm running Windows 7 64bit on a Dell M6400 with an Nvidia FX2700 video card. Any suggestion on how to make the game work would be greatly appreciated. |

Another question....
Do the makers of Borderlands actually monitor this forum? I'm hoping so to try to get an answer to this issue. |

Some developers check the forums, but this isn't an official support channel. To get official support, you should continue working through Steam, as this is a Steam problem not related to Borderlands. Official Borderlands support is available through http://support.2k.com.
I assume you've already tried this, but have you deleted clientregistry.blob in your Steam folder?

Thank you Jaredhite. I renamed it to clientregistryold.blob, then deleted everything in the steam folder except for steam.exe and the steamapps folder, then restarted steam. Does that sound right?

Well that's the nuclear option, but yeah it should have worked. Did it?

No sir, same issue. Again, all the other games update and play fine.....and Steam STILL hasn't responded. It's been 10 days now since my first ticket with them. For those of you whom have posted tickets with Steam, what is their typical response time?

Message by Support Tech Joey on Mon, 10th Sep 2012 6:06 pm Hello, Thank you for contacting Steam Support. If you are running in Windows Vista or Windows 7, please completely exit Steam, and right-click on the shortcut which you use to launch Steam and select "Run as Administrator." If you are running in Windows XP, take the following steps: 1) Exit Steam. 2) Go to the "Start" menu, select "Run", type "regedit" and click "OK". 3) Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VALVE 4) Right click and select "Permissions" 5) Check the "Allow" boxes for "Admin" and "System" for both "Full control" and "Read". The remaining steps apply to *all* versions of Windows. Then, verify the game's files at least once: Title: Verifying Game Cache Files (GCF) Link: http://support.steampowered.com/kb_a...2037-QEUH-3335 NOTE: There may be files that fail to validate. This is normal and can be ignored. If the issue persists, you may also need to manually run secondary installers required by this game. First, exit Steam entirely. Please download and install the latest DirectX update, available here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Also, please download and install the latest version of PhysX, available here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_system_software.html Then, please install the latest Visual C++ run-time components, as described in the following article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/259403 If you have not already done so, please install the following .NET framework software packages: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en -and- http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en You may also try the steps outlined in the "Games do not run after 'Preparing to Launch' FAQ: http://support.steampowered.com/kb_a...6218-USFX-5568 As well as the "This game is currently unavailable" FAQ: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...4595-WEXN-6831 If the issue persists and this game is not made by Valve, further support for this title is handled by a third party support department: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_cat.php?id=87 . Otherwise, please reply to this ticket if you still require assistance. |

Can't get my steam copy to start either.I get a black screen, then a crash to desktop with a borderlands has stopped working error. If I cancal that,I get a general protection fault which says this
history:memcpy()address=0x6be7ae7a(filename not found)[in c:\windows\winsxs\x86.microsoft.vc90.crt_1fc8b3b9a 1e18e3b_9.0.30729.6161_none_50934f2ebcb7eb57\msvcr 90.dll] GImage::GIamge()address=0x5c1190(filename not found)[in d:\program files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\borderlands\bina ries\borderlands.exe] I looked for these files myself and they appear to be there. The annoying thing is,I've had the game up and running on my system for ever and a day until recently.I've tried all the suggestions from valve and anywhere else I could find them, all but to no avail.System specs are thus: gigabyte ga-p55-us3l core i5 750 gtx580 1.5gb 301.42 driver 8gb ram(2gbx4) win 7 pro x-fi xtreme music Last edited by duanimal; September 12th, 2012 at 07:16 AM.
