Q.:I have a notice in my Steam page of Borderlands 2 like:

Notice: Purchases of Borderlands 2 made in %my_country% will be playable in Russian language only.

What does it mean?

A.: Welcome to Russian Lockdown! That notification means that you have purchased Borderlands 2 RU, which contains:
- separate AppID (you wont be able to play with the rest of the world);
- Russian language only (nobody cares if you do not speak Russian);
- even if you know Russian, the localization is awful and full of schizophrenic creatures;
- high chance of recieving DLC/patches with months of delay (or not obtaining 'em at all);
- Season pass (bought via Steam) dont recognize Borderlands 2 RU which make it useless, its just a waste of money;
- high chance to get additional bugs;
- "dead" support;
- 95% of all dropped loot are Vladof weapons.


Q.: Well, thats some siht, how can I cancel my pre-order of Borderlands 2 RU?

1. Go to support.steampowered.com, create an account there (that's a different from your steam account)
2. Create ticket, where you say that you'd like to cancel preorder due to recent regional limitations
3. Add billing info about your preorder (or you'll be promted to input it anyways). What info is needed is listed in their FAQ.
^^ you must do this BEFORE the release (21.09), otherwise you wont get your money back.


Q.: If I ask for refund, will Valve give me my dosh on my credit card or they'll remain at my steam wallet?

A.: They CAN send money to your credit card (here is the example of Steam Support answer (in Russian)).


Q.: What should I mention in my ticket @ steamsupport?

A.: Here is the template. Dont copy it straight to the ticket, POLITELY tell that you want your money back.


Q.: Wait, but I'm still looking for original Borderlands 2, how can I get it?

No... Seriously this is OVER all f***ng limits ! I have bought this game on steam to play on English langauge ! I live in Ukraine. BUT WHY you force me to play on russian !? I DONT want that CRAPPY localisation from 1C !!

WHY you didnt told us that, when you offered a Pre-Order ! I would wait for a box version of the game and would activate key instead ! Do you know that on steam it costs additional money to purchase ?!

This is damn ripoff !

AGAIN i dont want to hear crapy voice acting, or read crapy russian translation all over ! I want to play on original language, what developers were used when they made a game !


P.S. Just wait and you will see cummunity English patches, and we will all see how you were wrong.. Looks like CoD MW 2 localisation story didnt teached anyone of the publishers..

The russian publisher's site claims that it's going to have russian subtitles on the PC version, though (Платформы РС — субтитры на русском языке; ). Why the hell wasn't that made clear on the pre-order page on Steam, I have no idea. Missed so many opportunities to get it on greenmangaming... And 1C have a history of not releasing the patches and DLC for 'their' version of the game until months after (New Vegas DLC JUST got released a month or two ago, yeah, I'm not kidding). Fun, fun, fun (but not really).

We get http://cdr.thebronasium.com/app/217490 when the rest of the world gets http://cdr.thebronasium.com/app/49520 . It even has a different name in my Steam library, "Borderlands 2 RU", like it's mocking me for living in russia that I can't have the same thing as everyone else.

Not to mention that pre-load for this version is 30 Mbytes only, why am I not surprised 1C is slow with their stuff again?


Is there any way to play the original without re-buying it again? I don't want to lose my pre-order bonuses if this is not a something I can fix with my second-world copy of the game. I feel really misinformed and sad that I won't be able to enjoy all the untranslatable text references. Should I just ask a US friend to buy a second copy for me now? (sigh)

(not to mention also that this will segregate the gaming's 'community' features, such as game hub, global achievements stats and probably the ability to play between the versions) I can live with being segregated like a second grade buyer but only if I'm still able to see the game in all its original English glory.

Do you guys even imagine how bad will it be ? Slow patches and DLCs.. No native dev's language support.. So we wont be able to use wikies propertly..
Whats next ? Different multiplayer protocols ?
I'm afraid even to think that there are will be no DLCs at all... Thats actually happened with Russian version of Duke Nukem Forever...

And yes. I forgot to mention in my first post here.. Just look by yourself.. BOX (retail) version of the game will cost 17 $ for us... Steam version, which im actually bought, was cost to me 30 $... So im ripped off almost the double price of box version of the game.. Why ? Since there is no difference between them sadly....

Im begging you to rethink your distibution politics..

Borderlands 2 Pre-Order RU CIS

When I pre-purchased Borderlands 2 Pre-Order. I feel myself scammed, when I buy certain thing and get a fake one instead. And the funniest thing about this is that I DON'T KNOW RUSSIAN. It means I'll completely miss the scenario of the whole game, couldnt re-configure my controls and settings etc. I think this point is clear. And looks like I'm not alone with this problem in here. We paid twice (30$ instead of 15$) and we recieve fake copy of the game.

I dont really wanna get into SSA (its really boring), but I'm looking for protection as a customer. Besides material damage the fact I am forced to play russian version of the game offenses my cultural feelings. I'm Ukrainian, not Russian, not Soviet or whoever else. FYI Ukraine is not participating in CIS (Commonwealth of Nations). I want to play games with my native language localization or originals games. I purchased Borderlands 2, and I want to play the same version of the game as Randy Pitchford. I want to hear the story wrote by Anthony Burch, not by some amateurs. Its like forcing americans play spanish version of the game just because USA and Mexico are neighbors.

I know that its some wierd problem in here. There are 5 days before release, and ukrainians get some unpleasant surprise for the long-awaited game. I hope you guys (i mean Gearbox) will figure something out and we'll play Borderlands 2, not the fakers.

PS All of my games were purchased in Ukraine (some on DVD, but mostly via Steam Digital Distribution). And 0 of them are "RU CIS". Niether Valve games (TF2, L4D2 and so on) nor Borderlands GOTY (purchased via Steam). I am playing original versions of em and I'm happy. But here is some sht.

No one even warned us before about these restrictions.
It's like if you bought a dinner, and right before you able to eat it, waiter decided to eat half of it and spit out what's left in your face.
