Default Slag Weapons

Does slag itself actually deal damage when it is the element applied to a weapon in a similar way to fire/corrosive/shock/explosive does? Or does it just have the obvious effect of increasing the damage of all other attacks?

I used to be confused about Slag myself. All the videos kept saying "Slag the enemies and then swtich weapons". But you don't need to. I got a slag smg and the enemy gets slagged in the first few shots, and every shot after that does double damage.

Of course it would be more effective to slag and then change to another DOT weapon, but slag weapons in themselves are pretty damn good.

nah...how slag works is that once an enemy is slagged...that enemy receives DOUBLE damage from all other sources of damage except slag...(i.e. shooting a slagged target with more slag bullets would only result in normal bullet damage).

OOPS...just tested it with the target practice dummy. You are right. My Bad. I guess the other way would have made it too OP. Sounded good though.

Slag multiples the total damage done by 2

I would assume slag doesn't do any damage of its own. At least, I haven't seen any extra numbers when experimenting with my slag SMG.

It hasn't in my experience either, so I'd say no

Slag damage does count as an elemental damage type but it only deals direct damage and is not affected by the Slag debuff.

What made me curious is the relics that boost % slag damage... what does that mean?
