Default Level Cap increase to be handled differently from Borderlands 1

Pulled from IGN article on DLC 2

Looking ahead, Gearbox says its already thinking about the next downloadable content. Eventually, the developer has plans to raise Borderlands 2s level cap, but not in the way you might expect. Were discussing trying to do it in a more interesting way, Gearbox vice president of marketing Steve Gibson told IGN. We think people are going to be really happy when we do get to it. Its a little bit different way of doing it. Yes, the number will go up, but there are some other things associated with it that were trying to do an even better job of.

So..... Ive been saying since.... well.... last year that it was unlikely that we would blankly get skill points to add to the current trees and just end up with 2 end tree game changers. So.... can we agree yet? :-P

I'm betting at least one more skill per tree for each character.

more interesting better not mean less fun. i can see them removing skill points so that it keeps build diversity or sumthing silly. i was really looking forward to 2 end tier game changers an i think a lot of players are aswell. i hope they dont screw it up.

but yea another tree added to each character or something would be the more ideal route to go down, imo

I just think too many skill points would lead to one MASTER BUILD . Mostly like BL1

They wouldn't add additional trees to existing classes. It would be too difficult to develop new classes that have any kind of distinguishing variety.

Considering the changes that they've made to BL2 so far, when they say “We’re discussing trying to do it in a more interesting way” in reference to a level cal increase. I feel the need to grab Holy water and start chanting "The power of Christ compels you".

how about after 50....

SPECIALIZATION POINTS
you can add these points to skills already purchased. Maybe a hard cap on how many specialization points you can add.... and they can only be added to skills that are maxed out.

Thoughts?

I think Gearbox already knows what they're going to do at this point. I think I'm just going to wait until it comes out so I can see if I like it and then go from there.

That sounds similar to what Blizzard did to Diablo 3.

I have a feeling it'll be some sort of mission to break a level cap. Like you need to do [insert series of missions here] before you can hit level 52.
