Smile Mythbusters: The Fibber

I noticed that a lot of players still don't fully understand what is going on with the Fibber. The Fibber does a lot of weird and wonderful things and I'm going to explain them to you.

1. The Fibber has 3 types of barrels.
  1. "Pistol_Barrel_Bandit _Fibber_2" is the first barrel that fires 7 slow-moving pellets. - Fibber with the 1st barrel explained
  2. "Pistol_Barrel_Bandit _Fibber_3" is the one that's face-rolling all the raid bosses right now.
  3. "Pistol_Barrel_Bandit _Fibber_4" fires slow-moving arching bullets that ricochet with +700% Critical Hit Damage Bonus. - Fibber with the 3rd barrel explained
The 2nd barrel is the most sought after by players. The problem is that all 3 barrels look the same in-game. The only way to tell them apart is by trying them out or looking at the displayed stats. Even though the stats lie, the 2nd barrel will show a large 5-digit number for its damage value.

Example:

Update: A LV 61 version will show a 6-digit number for its damage value:

Note: I know that the 2nd barrel is called "Barrel_Bandit _Fibber_3" in the code but just go with it.

2. Dat Barrel

The Fibber with the 2nd barrel will deal very little damage when fired directly at a target. However, the bullet splits into 9 pellets after ricocheting off a surface. The shot pattern produced consists of 1 pellet in the middle with the other 8 pellets surrounding it, as shown here:

Note: This is the special effect of the 2nd barrel. It has nothing to do with its prefix or its accessory.

3. The "Redundant" prefix

The "Redundant" prefix is applied when a Hyperion pistol is equipped with a Laser Double Accessory. This makes the pistol fire extra projectiles per shot at the cost of increased ammo consumption. It also gives that "X 2" in the displayed stats.

This coupled with the 2nd barrel will produce a shot pattern of 2 pellets in the middle with 16 pellets surrounding it. A total of 18 pellets per shot.

4. The Fibber and The Bee.

Since the extra pellets produced are not listed, each of the 9 pellets from a regular Fibber will receive full undivided Amp Damage. For the Redundant Fibber, the Amp Damage is only divided by 2 but then multiplied by the 18 pellets. This means that the Fibber (Redundant or not) will receive 9X the Amp Damage per shot. This is the same on all platforms.

Without The Bee:

With The Bee (+46678 Amp Damage):

5. The Fibber glitched and not.

Patch v1.2.0 (AKA "Bee Nerf Patch") introduced a glitch affecting the Fibber. The glitch caused the Fibber to deal more damage than before. However, this issue has been fixed with Patch v1.3.1 on PC & Mac and with the April 2nd patch on consoles.

Despite various reports of the glitch giving the Fibber +1000% damage, the real increase is actually just +475%. Here are my tests, along with tests from Bahroo to prove it.

What exatly are you debunking? We already know it's glitched and does more damage than intended and that has been patched on PC and not on Console. I might have used the wrong % but it still doesn't change what I said about it being glitched.

Some people still don't understand that not all Fibbers do the same thing. Also, some still think that only the Redundant prefix will produce that kind of shot pattern. I only did this so that it will be easier for people to understand what is going on with the Fibber.

Yay, another Fibber thread.

But Loot is a good person, this thread's simplified but very clear, and I like turtles.
