Missing Executable [Workaround in First Post] - Page 4

Normally games are released on Steam everywhere simultaneously, and due to the difference in a time zones a release date of February 12th would usually mean during the day of February 12th in the US, while in the UK and in Europe that's in the evening, and in Australia that's February 13th. It seems that for Australia that's screwed up a bit and Steam has claimed that game is available once it hit 12:01am 12th February in Australia, despite still being in the preload stage.

What is this garbage? I bought the collector's edition and everything, I get home and install it and it's missing game files? Are you kidding me?

Wow... This is a real big let down. I hope something will be done because I'm not able to refund this game now that it is attached to my steam account.

Very disappointed.

Dear Gearbox Software, I unfortunately bought your Aliens: Colonial Marines Collectors Edition and cannot play it due to missing game files from your disc. Even trying to repair the install on steam does not help.

Welcome to what happens when some retailers (Eb Australia the biggest first one that seems to have set off a chain effect) over the weekend decides to break the street date for a game without the publishers consent.

But the game is released on steam. If I downloaded it instead would that solve the issue?

They've done staggered releases before.. BL2 was staggered, with different regions getting the game at different times with days in between some releases. This is a huge stuff up.. no matter what the reason.. As I said before, the cats out, putting it back in will cause way more harm than good..

no because due to the confusion over the street date it doesn't come with the .exe file as far as I know

I just don't understand. If the game isn't ready to play then don't put up messages saying that it is. It is a natural response for people to feel cheated and upset when these things happen.

If the game is not ready, DON'T CLAIM THAT IT IS.

That fking simple. Same thing happened with Doom 3 BFG.

I hope something will be done because I'm not able to refund this game now that it is attached to my steam account. Very disappointed.
