Does the sweetfx mod work with this?

Can anybody link me to the correct sweetfx mod?

Thanks.

Okay, this is annoying. Does the sweetfx mod also turn off the film grain? Because I actually prefer the look of the that mod, rather than the helix one. Or, can I make the helix mod look like the Sweetfx mod? If you press f12 on the sweet mod everything goes a little darker, which is the look I want.

Make sense? Hope so.

Hopefully they patch it out soon.
Tried this, did nothing. I put the files in the ACM.exe directory and hit "o" when the game started, and the film grain was still there.

Same for me. Not playing in 3D, just got it for easy keystroke to toggle film grain on and off.

The film grain effect seems to include a grey shader to darken things so with it off everything becomes too bright, even if the in-game brightness is reduced in settings.

I had to go into the PecanEngine.ini and change Gamma and brightness to the following to get the 'look' of the game to appear closer to pre-patch/pre film grain.

[Engine.Client]
DisplayGamma=1.8
DisplayBrightness=0.4

Even then I had to drop in-game brightness down to about 40%.

SweetFX mod won't work with Helix mod. The dll's overwite each other. That is a shame.

Yes my SweetFX mod works with this.
You have to follow these install procedures in order to run both SweetFX and the Helix mod.

The correct official place for SweetFX is it's thread in the Guru3D forums

Here is a direct download link if you just want the mod quickly.

No SweetFX does not turn anything off that the game draws. The Helix mod however can turn off the film grain for A:CM.

I think you need to have an Nvidia card for it to work. The Helix mod is actually for Nvidia 3d Vision. It just happens to have a film grain removal. Aliens in 3d is one of the best 3D vision 2 games I have played. Very, very good looking in 3d.

The Helix mod fixes are specifically targeted to work with Nvidia 3D vision, however if you don't use that and just use it's ability to remove the film grain shader, then it should work equally well on AMD cards - I have not however tested this. Try it.

Bah for some reason I can't get SweetFX and Helix to work despite the link Ceejay posted.

-Cleared Helixmode from exe folder.
-Extracted SweetFx to the acm.exe folder. Sweet FX working
-Renamed d3d9.dll to res.dll
-Extracted Helix to acm.exe folder. Helix working. SweetFX not working (expected behaviour)

-Edited the DX9Settings.ini so Proxylib is set to path of renamed dll -
[General]
ProxyLib = D:\Games\SteamGames\SteamApps\common\Aliens Colonial Marines\Binaries\Win32\res.dll
UseEndScene = false
SkipSetScissorRect = true
DefVSConst1 = 254
DefPSConst1 = 205
PresetsKeysList = 0;1;2;3;

-Ran game. Helix Mode working. SweetFX is not.

It probably something simple I'm missing but I cannot figure out where I'm going wrong.

I actually got mine to work by hitting F11 in-game (which made it windowed or something?) and then hit F11 again. Then, Helix Mod worked by hitting "o".

I also did the above thing with Proxylib but I don't know if that was necessary or not. All I did was set the path to my d3d9.dll that came with the Helix Mod.

Not using SweetFX so I can't comment on that.

You only need to enter the path for ProxyLib if you are using another mod in addition to Helix.

As per my earlier post I can get Helix or SweetFx working no problem, but not both together.

Editing the DX9Settings.ini as covered in my earlier post using the guide does not get them both running.

CeeJay says they will both work and as he is the author of SweetFx I don't doubt him as he obviously knows what he's talking about.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
