Default [Walkthrough] Solo'ing Crawmerax - Tips, Tricks, and Slow Mo!

[ Same title as Youtube video; Lame I know ]

This is for any new and upcoming Lilith's that are wanting to take on the challenge that is Crawmerax. Its not much but I hope that helps as I did the best I could. For experienced veterans, I hope you I showed you one neat trick if you didn't figure it out already. ^_^

Edit:

Videos have been removed from Youtube; Will be slowly re-uploading videos. I will have to make edits to some of the original videos to avoid them being removed again.

Eridians-Only Kill

Additional Tips:
  • If you are afraid of doing the move I showed to kill his back's critical spot, try looping him around the U-shaped gap. That weak spot will show for a few seconds at a time but that's long enough to inflict major damage on it. Be warned though, make sure your circling is large enough or else he will melee attack you.
  • When he dives backwards, he will do his "dive" move. When he dives forwards, he will just hide for 2 to 20~ seconds before reappearing.
  • Attempt to dodge Crawmerax's spit attacks as best as you can so that you do not get downed and can Phasewalk outta there to heal and regroup. If you're near a pillar, hide behind it or direction his spit in such a way that it hits the pillar before you.. After all, purple squishy goo < solid animated glowing rock.
  • If you are unable to Phasewalk when he uses the Dive move, just hope that your Phasewalk is recharged enough to heal or pop a med kit. The fall from how high you are when you get hit, to when you smash into the ground costs about 80 - 100 HP so better safe than sorry.
  • Weaken Maggots and Green Crabs if possible. This is because they have a good chance of hiding into the ground when you need to kill them the most. I've had it done several times on me, and its not fun. Do NOT do this for Armored however. They will keep taking Corrosive damage until they die.
  • When Crawmerax first spawns, if he jitters around a lot as he walks towards you, he is most likely going to use his Dive move. If he's walking slowly towards you, there's still a chance for him to do the Dive move but not often will he do it.

Build:

http://www.borderlandsthegame.com/sk...55000105505550

With 2 more on Intuition from Moxxi.

Reasons for my selection:

Diva / Inner Glow / Slayer / Silent Resolve / Hard to Get / Blackout / Hit and Run - They are basically essentials for defeating Crawmerax in my opinion.
  • Diva is for that added boost of shield, particularly useful for surviving long enough after a Crawmerax attack to Phasewalk out of there.
  • Inner Glow is to heal after those moments.
  • Slayer' - Critical Damage = as much needed as possible to defeat Crawmerax.
  • Silent Resolve is an added protection for anything that may suddenly come, like a spawning minion, in my way.
  • Hard to Get - The more phasewalk, the better.
  • Blackout - This is EXTREMELY useful. You will always, and I mean always get a Phasewalk after getting a Second Wind with max'd Hard to Get and that will save you life more than once. I know it has for me.
  • Hit and Run - In combination with Inner Glow to heal more as well as being able to plan out future attacks, and simply escaping to an open area to regroup.

Girl Power / Quicksliver / Spark / High Velocity / Intuition - My personal preference choices.
  • Girl Power - Crab Maggots are usually the subject of my shields being down, besides the occasional red crab suicide bomb so I find this useful for recovering any shields that maggots take down or when I need to recover my shields and there's one nearby.
  • Quicksliver - The added fire rate may mean nearly destroyed critical spot or destroyed critical spot. I would rather be safe than sorry.
  • Spark - This is the one skill maybe I should move to somewhere else. To be honest, seeing how the Defiler doesn't induce additional Corrosive damage and all 100% for me, again, better safe than sorry.
  • High Velocity - In combination with Quicksilver = Critical spots bye-bye faster.
  • Intuition - This one is also tricky to say why I have but hear me out. After a Second Wind, I sure as hell want to get the hell out of there. Though standard Phasewalk does perfectly fine, since Intuition stacks speed on top of Phasewalk it makes escaping miles faster, and gives me more time to regroup. It is also useful for getting out of a near-cornered situation.

Weapons / Gear Setup:

The basic getup is this:
  • Have a high-powered weapon (Preferably an Anarchy since you are a Siren)
  • Have a Hellfire (Green Crabs)
  • Have a Maliwan Corrosive Weapon with Very High Elemental Chance (Defiler or Crux are suggested.)(Armored Crabs)
  • Have a Shock-based weapons (Preferably an Orion but any Shock weapon will do.)(Maggots)
  • Mercenary Mod with a decent ammo regen. I would say +15 up. However, when using a +19 mod, I found myself scrambling to regen ammo so its best to Armory farm for a +25 up.
  • Pick either a Balanced High Capacity / Regen Shield or a 60% Shield with a good Capacity. A Quick Health regen shield may be useful as well but I have Phasewalk to cover my healing needs.

These are my weapons:

Shown in the video:

The Hellfire got replaced by a "better" one if you watched the entire video.

Weapons not shown:

Mod:

Health Boost Shield / High Cap and Regen Shield (I liked the HP boost more.):

One last thing:

If you think your gear is the cause of your downfall, simply go Armory farming until you get what you want.

If you have any comments, suggestions, or any criticisms regarding my video, music, tips, build, and weapons, feel free to post. I will take them as best as I can without offending you.

How can I not know where that song came form...in fact, I can't even tell who sing it...Nnoooo!!!!
Edit:After quick wiki, no wonder I never heard of it, it is form ep 14 and 15 =.=....I yet to watch them

The poping out behind it trick only works if you have a fast equip gun like your Tediore Anarchy, or Vicious Semi-auto snipers. Revolver may work, but you have to have steady hands.

I like high accuracy hellfire, crit DOT just burn way faster.

That move is definitely a high risk, high reward type of situation. I've had it backfire on it me before, mainly because I phased out too long and had to reload, and all it takes is one Crawmerax snip to take me down to near death.

1. I planned to record my first run and that's what I got.

No joke. I would of accepted me having to actually fight my way to that back spot but apparently he wanted to die quickly on Youtube.

LOL, seem the game likes you a lot more then I do. Spit bombardment is often twice as intense on my tries.

I guess I will be use to soloing it after a while, but i would like to let the fruit of success sink deeper in my stomach longer ^.^

That was a rare moment for sure. I generally try to bait it to do its dive move but generally all I get is his claw attack and I have to Phasewalk outta there.

I can get on now and we can do some runs now if you want.

Nice thread sky. Now i'm kinda sad I don't play siren because soloing him with a soldier is freaking hard.
