I’m assuming you’re in PT2.5 (Beat the Destroyer in PT2)? If so, the Knoxx DLC doesn’t scale until you beat it, but the Zombie and Claptrap DLCs will always be one level above you until you reach max level.

Yup, I am.

Ah cool. But if I get to lvl 69 then the claptraps won’t be a higher level then me?
Then it might be possible to beat that final level with immense amounts of lucks/tries.

If you persevere doing the armory run gives you the best chance of getting great weapons and gear, especially on the third and final run (It’s Like Christmas!) and if you exploit the glitch. With that, you can then go on and tackle the rest of the game and additional DLCs with no problems. I usually play the main game and then tackle the Knoxx DLC just to get to the armory and stock up. You’re pretty much guaranteed great gear

The bosses will be about level 70-ish, but the standard mobs will be between 67-69.

I’m assuming he wants to be legit and not abuse an exploit.

Yea when I’m done with every single boss I don’t mind using the glitch, because the time limit in the armory is basically a big finger to the player as you were promised every weapon Knoxx owns, but until then I’d like to do it the legit way. Thanks for the tip though

maybe, but I’ll let him make his mind up. In any event, even without the exploit It’s Like Christmas will still give him some pretty good gear

No worries. If that’s the case I’d advise not to do It’s Like Christmas just yet because if you hand it in I don’t think you can go back again?! But do the second run, though. The loot gets better with each one (or at least, it did with me) and even in 2.5 minutes you can still get a lot of chests! The quest from Marcus just has you killing x number of enemies so it’s best to just get it and then have it run quietly in the background as you do other quests.

If you are feeling brave then you could always try Crawmerax. But it’s a bit of a chicken and egg thing. If you beat him, you get great loot, but you need great loot to beat him! He will always drop an Orange or two.

Oh, and finally, if you do the second run I found that the chests behind the forcefields offered the greatest consistent chance of good orange and purple weapons.

Good luck!

Nope. I once had a kill where he dropped zero oranges. Not even an Equalizer

wow, bummer! I’ve definitely been fortunate, then. Although like you say he often does rain Equalizers for some reason, which gets old quick!

He’s usually pretty reliable for good purple Havocs for me, too. And some decent shields

Reminds me that I really need to go and finish a few things with my Lilith. So much Borderlands, so little time!

Not a big equalizer fan, but a Havoc would be a very welcome surprise as it’s been a while.
If I decide to make another attempt I’ll defo go to the armory or Craw before fighting MINAC again as both me and him just keep leveling up and that only makes it harder as my gear doesn’t grow with our levels.

For MINAC, there is a rock you can hide behind where he cannot get you. You still have to be wary of his minions, but you will be safe from MINAC at least.

From memory, when you enter the arena run forward and to your left. Past the little area with the tent thing there’s a group of rocks looking over it. Run up behind that and you’re safe. You can then pop out from cover and take out his turrets with a good Corrosive weapon, and then it’s easier to take out his laser eye. When he shoots just crouch down behind the rock and you will be safe

WATCH OUT FOR HIS MINIONS! They come running at you and self destruct, so you need to get them before they get you. They spawn every so often so keep an eye out.

Yea there’s 4 positions MINAC sits still, but only if he’s in 1 of those 4 positions you can peek out to shoot him. Else he will shoot homing rockets around the rock which cause instadeath if my health isn’t 100%. If I use my Turret and put that right beside the rock he will shoot homing rockets at the Turret and the splash damage is enormous. So using that to heal is counterproductive. It’s also not strong enough to take out ClapTraps.

Considering that 2 claptraps spawn every time he sits still and it takes my weapons 10 seconds to kill those 2, every rotation of 4 positions he assumes I get a maximum of 1 second of spraying his eye.

So yes it’s possible, but it takes at least 10 attemps X 4 postions. And in the 7 minutes or so that takes I can’t make a single mistake or it’s instadeath. With the very rough terrain around the rock it’s nearly impossible for me to not make a single mistake in all that time. Sometimes I get stuck on an ammo crate or just the terrain and I can’t see a kamikaze-claptrap untill I’m too late to kill him and I die. In a game filled with terrain glitches putting 1 safe spot around a very edgy piece of map filled with ammo crates is a bit mean.

So yeah I know the proper technique… It’s just unreasonably hard with my current gear. Especially considering the rest of the game was pretty doable and the main game had different game mechanics. This is the hardest challenge a game has ever set me. Except old arcade machines that were unbeatable of course.

Unless we are talking about a different rock, from my experience his missiles couldn’t get me when I was behind it. The only thing I had to worry about was his minions creeping up on me if I didn’t pay attention. But it has been a while since I did it

But it sounds like your weapons are seriously under-leveled anyway. But to be fair if you got that far - well done! - they should be able to do something.

Found a video which explains the spot better than I could,

Solo MINAC

Thanks

Ah I was talking about ‘D!ck rock’
If claptrap is sitting in 1 of his 4 positions and you’re sitting on the other side, crouching, it looks like a shaft + balls pointing in the air and roughly towards MINAC. But only if you’re looking at it from the right angle. It’s the rock júst in front of the place where you respawn when you die. And it’s surrounded by ammo crates and edge-ground-glitches.

But I’ll definitely give this one a try. He didn’t explain how he kept the ClapTraps from spawning, or from being able to find him tho. He also doesn’t have to kill them when MINAC dies. So that’s odd. But yea I’m gonna have to give this a try. I neeeeeed to finish this game or it will haunt me just like HL2 EP2 ending still haunts me :stuck_out_tongue:

From memory I think it’s just because they make a beeline for you and the rock’s in the way! They’re not that smart to think to go around most of the time

Ah cool, I thought they’d still be around though if MINAC goes down, but I guess it’s scripted to take down the Claptraps with it. Or it’s because you use the WIRED when it goes down.

I think it’s also because they are constantly self destructing, too!
