10 skins for all Battleborn

I was rewatching the stream and it looks like 2 skins for every character. I for 50 points and one for 85.

Im pretty sure only a few will get those second skins which are supposed to be higher quality than the others. Everybody will get 1 skin and a few will get the DLC related skins

I just rewatching it, and it doesn’t seem like they’re favoring certain characters. They don’t mention anything about that

Concidering marketplace prices, it’ll be cheaper to buy that DLC.

Well, there could be one you reeeeally want. But if it’s two or more, you’re definitely right.

These are old white skins.

Hope these new skins actually look good as opposed to just color changes.

Yeah, I really hope so. If they are recolors, a lot of the community will riot.

Yea never saw anything confirming 10 skins, just one at 50 and one at 85. They did say that the Mission Packs would also be able to earn you taunts, I imagine those are at the higher Operation Point marks.

I will be extremely surprised if we are legitimately getting 56 skins from a single Operation that are on the level of the marketplace skins.

I almost guarantee they will be recolors. Maybe slightly fancier recolors like the Cyber or Gold colors, or more complicated in that they involve more than 2 color tones, but there’s no way we’re getting marketplace quality.

Before they stated 2 skins per character, I was expecting marketplace quality but only for a handful of characters, like maybe 5 specific ones, one of which would obviously be Attikus.

That said, at least they can’t skimp too much on taunts, laziest thing they can do is no voice lines on any of them.

I’m saying ten skins because there are five operations, 2 skins in each. But, I’m hoping that one is a recolor, one is a remodel… Maybe two retextures. Just, not a bunch of recolors. Your post makes me think my nightmare will be reality, but I really want more than recolors.

it is, got mine for weeks now, mellkas even longer

It’s not humanly possible that they could release that many skins unless they’re simple palette swaps. There just aren’t going to be that many artists still assigned to the game.

We don’t actually know how many of the 60+ people working on the game currently are artists or otherwise. Plus it seems they have a lot of skins and taunts that they are working on from what I’ve been told. They could be ready and they are releasing them a bit at a time, or they could be releasing them as they get them done (aside from those intended to be part of the DLC packs). It also may be why we’ve so few of them in the marketplace because a lot of them are part of the DLC packs. At the very least they only need to get 60 done by the time each DLC pack is ready.

2 skins per character per DLC pack. 2 x 30 x 5 = 300 skins. That’s a lot of skins. I can see why you’d think they’re just palette swaps. Even if half of them were palette swaps (the 50 Operation Point skins) that means there are still 150 skins that aren’t (the 85 Operation Point skins). I personally don’t think that they are palette swaps. If they are I’ll be somewhat disappointed as I believe Gearbox can do better than that. I’m fairly confident the 85 point skins are not palette swaps for the simple reason they are supposed to be themed skins that are styled after parts of the story operation.

That being said I hope that gearbox does continue to add more palette swap skins (recolors) into the game which can be unlocked by purchasing faction packs and getting a lucky drop like the current recolors in the game that are unlocked the same way.

During this run, they’ll surely also want to release more marketplace skins, including premium skins with altered meshes and FX (ala S&A ā€œFun and Games.ā€) I can’t imagine that every skin release for the next however months will be part of the story DLC - if that were the case, the marketplace would largely lay fallow. So it’s got to be more than 60 skins, unless Gearbox genuinely are going to freeze premium (platinum bought) skins until the DLC are all done.

It seems impossible to me, and I don’t say that in order to discredit the team. I wouldn’t even want that many skins, as the quality would suffer tremendously, and we’d be unlikely to see complex new meshes + sounds + ideas realized. I don’t want a million tiny variations - a little decal on some armor here, a new variation of camo there, a gimmicky cyborg eye or mutant scale there…

I mean as far as the DLC skins go they only need to do them 60 at a time. They don’t need to have all 300 ready by the time the first DLC is released. Sorry if I was a little unclear on that point. I really shouldn’t be typing this at this point and should be in bed sleeping. I am quite certain that there will be more skins and taunts being added to the Marketplace over time. Probably because when I talk to many of the developers they’re always mentioning all the cool skins that are coming. Sadly I wish they’d tell me a little more aside from there are some awesome new skins coming and I’m probably going to like them. Details people! Nah, I know they can’t really tell me much so I’m just going to be patient and wait.

Yeah, I’m anxious for details too! I’m frantically hungering for more Mellka skins; I’ve got platinum banked purely for those. Please drop heavy hints to the devs that noted forum user Eden would like to see Mell in a dapper tuxedo.

Betting each will be a new color combo ala the purple/yellow from faction packs.

Considering a standard palette skin is roughly $2 on the marketplace, those 300 skins are worth $600. And that’s if they’re all palette swaps. So at least we’re getting our moneys worth on skins.

That’s a good point. This is a ridiculous deal. I also know that I’ll have an incentive to bear it with every character because of this. I like having actually unlockable skins

It will be interesting to see how Gearbox handle this. Having the ability to create palette swaps at will is something they haven’t used that much yet (consider how many variations each vault hunter had in BL2). There’s also GB’s previous decision to provide the community with free Borderlands skins throughout the year via SHIFT codes. Will this still happen or is that something that will be exclusive to the marketplace in Battleborn?

I’m hoping for some really nice skins in the DLC but I won’t throw my pc out the window if the lower tier skins are palette swaps. :stuck_out_tongue:
