This is really cool. Itā€™s nice to see Gearbox looking for ways to raise awareness of the game (I assume this is the case since they are one of the sponsors?). Hopefully people coming for the other game tournaments will get to see how Battleborn plays (without all the bull*** that the Internet brings whenever someone uses ā€œGearboxā€ or ā€œBattlebornā€ in a sentence). March is a long way off and thereā€™s at least 2 more major patch windows before then (including the upcoming one this month) so who knows.

To anyone that goes though, make sure to bring the best version of yourself to show others this is a welcoming, non-toxic community :wink:

if im competing ill be in rath (no mask/ gloves so easy to play), and if /when im not competing ill be in caldarius. im still trying to get the costume fam to come. id love to have a fully in character team :smiley:

(although im not good at rath atm)

Well, why teleport with pendles when you can build your supply station anywhere :wink: And I always take life steal helix and health regen with him, soā€¦

Iā€™ve never done a cosplay myself (too hot and thereā€™s no conventions where I live and transporting it all down to one is just not practical), but if I ever did one for Battleborn, Iā€™d probably try to do a Marquis and have my Bindlebane, top hat and little mechanical owls that actually move.

Iā€™d have to work on my legs and butt though because I have thunder thighs sigh (because programmers sit on their butts all day). Mind you Iā€™d probably get more enjoyment out of building it than actually wearing it as there would be people much better suited to pull off a good Marquis. :heart_eyes:

Many of the Battleborn would make such amazing cosplaysā€¦ it just broke my heart when I went to PAX Aus in November and I didnā€™t find a single one :ā€™(

Regular green health regen, and his legendary. Also tested Vow of Vengeance and Symbiotic Gauntlet on him (as on all melee characters).

The thing with him is, and this is what I see way too much of the timesā€¦heā€™s really wild card to have on team. 90% of Pendleses in teams are useless af. No offense to anyone, butā€¦I see them running to opponents base, destroying turrets, minions and whatnots while rest of the team is losing sentry. Or in the combo of Miko+Gal/Miko+Montana etc. they go for tank. And die. Annoying to have on team. Or they just jump in mid of all 5 of them, and think that by stealhing in last seconds they will live. They mostly donā€™t. I consider him as most other melee characters with that exception that he might have good escape. Soā€¦would you go in mid of them with Rath? No. What he does really good is focus on supports.
And by that I meanā€¦I engage Miko+tank combo by attacking Miko. A lot of them will panic or at least stop healing for a second or two to toss fungy on me. And in case youā€™re playing with good team, or you ping your action in advance, at that moment the push happens. Yes, opposing team might focus you. You might die. But youā€™re most likely to allow your team to finish them and push them away.

As you can see by my statistics, Iā€™ve been either really lucky in having good teams who used what I gave them. And I actually know what Iā€™m doing.
But lately I play him only sometimes in capture or face off. I see more value in at least 20 other characters in Incursion or Meltdown than Pendles. So honestly, I donā€™t see him as threat or would expect seeing him in tournament.

See, I play him as straight attack speed. I go between a blue attack speed or a 0 cost depending on my mood and I always take the level 3 mutation and not life steal. I also bring a wrench and shards and buy all the buildables, get the thrallā€™s/side ops early and my goal is to make the other team hear footsteps, mainly distract them or make a 1v1 a 2v1 and stuff. I donā€™t really play him anywhere close to the way I play other assassins.

I was just wondering if there was a gear combo I havenā€™t thought of that would be great. My other build is 0 cost boots/attack speed/health regen and really like that one.

And yes, a Pendles in a competitive match is a sub-optimal choice.

So you drafted? Why would you take him when there is a character with a low-level reveal? Also, why would you take him against very mobile characters? He can do a decent job against Caldi and Thorn, but they can get away from him pretty easily. And the other three own him. With those items, I would have taken Pheobe

We drafted him for fun, there were better choices (not many) but I still think he performed well based on those numbers

Ambraā€™s level 1 reveal is also broken, iirc. Probably has the weakest and most avoidable reveal set of the characters that have it.

with pleasure. what character are we showing? doesnt make much sense to show support or tank. as far as actual kill confirmed characters, ill gladly compare my orendi, phoebe, or maybe even el dragon or thorn (thorn and dragon are very rarely played by me and not super impressive, maybe 5.0)

pendles is literally the worst character in the game against good players that know you are picking him or have already picked him. that being said, what platform do you play on? looks like you guys actually know what a private match is and play by THE rules

If you use a drafter and notice the enemy team didnā€™t pick or had 1 reveal character. You could pick pendles as the final pick without giving the enemy team a chance to counter pick
