A fistful of feedback from a lvl 45ish fan

Hej hej!

First and foremost l want to thank you for a very enjoyable beta and what looks to be a highly entertaining game!

I have some small requests for feature updates - NOT balance changes - which l hope you might consider:

  1. Taunting an enemy should ideally allow you to enable your equipment and specialize your skills while the taunt animation is playing. To me it is the perfect breather and intuitively l feel like l should be allowed this minor multi-tasking.

  2. Grant us the option to show more advanced tooltips. I would like to be able to see stats like shield regen delay, basic attack speed and so on. Diablo 3 got it right where they allowed advanced tooltips to be activated for those who wished. A tutorial explaining things like Shield Recharge Delay, Shield Penetration etc would also be appreciated, with minor loot rewards for completing said tutorials. Getting an item which boosts your shields for going through a tutorial teaching you about shields makes sense to me - especially as a brand new player whom also happens to be in desperate need of loot!

  3. Speaking of rewards: l love your taunt-the-enemy-you-just-killed feature and the psychological warfare it adds, as well as the risk/reward. Only l feel there is too little reward. In a game where doing anything at all is recorded as progress towards a xp chunk or a title l really feel ‘successful’ taunts seem mysteriously absent from said progress lists? It might very well be that l missed that info, benig ‘only’ lvl 45 and all

  4. During the character selection screen you have this awesome skill explanation window you can open! Fine as it is, l really wish it would change into an Item Details window when you have selected your character and are prompted to chose your desired item loadout for the battle/mission.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

All good suggestions. +1 and hoping for the best. This looks like it might make its way in.

@TheFunfighter Cheers!

Im fairly certain that the entire reason that gearbox added #3 is because it makes you even more badass :joy:

While I disagree with you on the taunting (ie. taunting is it’s own reward, and I don’t feel those who have no desire to do so should be pressured into it for an xp/monetary gain), I do agree that on character selection a rundown on what the gear in your gearbox actually does would be nice.
Actually, now that I think about it, is there perhaps an option to rename the loadouts? If not, that would also be handy . . .

Cheers for joining the duscussion @ZenCrazy. On ps4 you can rename item loadouts with the square button. It is indeed very useful!

As for taunting, would it at least make sense to you to have it grant you a befitting title eventually? Like Intergalactic Bully or Elitist Jerk. I just feel like there is something missing in terms of titles both from taunting and getting taunted in combat. Stuff like taunting the person whom last killed you would also make for good title material!

A more impactful feature would be to have it grant some small healing if done when intended but to be fair l’m not even sure l’d want that. Titles makes more sense to me because as you point out, taunting someone is its own reward.

Hell I even taunted with knowing exactly that I’m going to die in the seconds after it. Too much fun flexxing

@10Tacle Haha, classic. And also good title material.

There also needs to be some reward for killing people while they are taunting after a kill, to make it even more risk/reward. Perhaps not a reward within the match but progression towards a title or loot crate would feel justified?

I…approve of most of this. At first I was leery on “rewards for taunting”, but then you said titles and I think it would be…alright?

The issue is when I see my teammates taunting, I usually get irritated because they could be spending that time contributing to the team. I’m playing to compete here, and if my team is dicking off then it increases our chances of losing. It would be cool to get titles for it, but it would increase the amount of people on my team taunting, pissing me off.

But eh, I’d get over it, and as long as they have a ranked matchmaking maybe people will do it less there.

These are my thoughts as well. I’m not crazy about the idea of players taunting for the sake of taunting towards a reward, when they could be battling.
The taunts themselves are the reward. Receiving further reward for using a reward, would be like being rewarded for wearing a specific skin. No thank you.
I have no problem with players taunting after a kill, but I like how it’s implemented now; ie. if you’re taunting that’s all you’re doing. No multitasking, no healing, nothing.
No special reward for killing a taunting player. That was the reward! You got to kill a player who foolishly taunted while you were arranging their death.

I think the system is pretty much perfect as is.

I would love a more detailed menu showing character stats as well as gear boosts and so on. I want to see exactly what I’m gaining from each piece of gear and augment choice I make value-wise on screen.

Yeah @chewymangos11 something like a build simulator where you could see what your stats would be at a level of your chosing with augmentations, gear, buffs and debuffs would ve very useful. I am sure The Internet ™ will sort that soon enough but in general l prefer seeing stuff like that ingame, preferably with a ‘testing ground’ of sorts to test the differences in controlled gameplay, on target dummies etc.

I see your points @ZenCrazy and @arcsteiiscool. Ways to fail-safe/fool-proof it could be having the title progress bar be ‘Kill and successfully taunt 50 Jennerit players in Meltdown (unranked)’ to make sure it does not interfere with the competitive scene.
To be fair though l hope the unranked battlegrounds will be as chaotic and careless as they were in the Open Beta, with the ranked versions catering to the more competitive audience.
