If you know how to use them right, yes; much like Toby himself. I personally prefer the sure thing in the stun-mines though. There is still a large amount of ā€œhit or missā€ randomness with the vortex mines, however.

No, you donā€™t NEED the double hug; it just gives you a second chance to not get screwed by the vortex-minesā€™ RNG-like effectiveness. Sometimes they will lightly tug an enemy off-course, and sometimes they send them flying across the map.

As to using them correctly, itā€™s really just all about placement, and crossing your flippers and hoping they work (in my experience); pinging @Moostacho to give his perspective, because he probably has the most knowhow out of the Toby mains, when it comes to the slow and vortez mines.

At least bolas no longer stacks. Donā€™t know when they changed that broken mechanic because I donā€™t remember reading it in any hotfix. Still busted as all hell but not quite as cancerous as it used to be.

Doesnā€™t seem that Predator Step is working as intended since i didnā€™t get the +9% Atk dmg boost but oddly enough i got the upr 7 regen with Rath so now idk if the UPR DB gear is working as intended either plus using it on gali did not gave me the 14 regen but just the 7 regen, I think all these gears are busted one way or the other.

You have the gist of it though, Cam, @silverkhaos knows more about them than I do. Vortex mines are a strange phenomenon. They will pull in anything towards its center if it is moving at walking speed, on the condition that they also have a foothold. It tries, but usually fails, since most minions and players are always running.

If the target is in the air, however, the phenomenon changes. Picture the Vortex mine to be a literal vortex that is rapidly spinning to pull objects towards its center. Anything moving through these vortices without a foothold will have different things happen to them, depending on how much momentum they had when they came within range.

People jumping from walking speed will be pulled towards the Vortex successfully. Jumping through or near one of these at running speed, however, will cause the mine to try and pull you (unsuccessfully) and it yields the hilarious results some of us have seen.

It also depends on mine placement. Burying one of these mines halfway in the ground will give you a miniature accelerator that can push enemies forward slightly. It can work against you, since it will let the enemy minions cover ground more quickly. It used to launch Thralls, but they made them immune to it at one point. It still happens to the humanoid looking minions.

The real magic happens when the enemy is slowed, or if you take the giant mine helix at level 9. Oh, the fun I had with double hug giant Vortex mines. (sigh)

Iā€™ve seen people running demon bear gear before and never understood why they were using it or how they did so well. Iā€™ve never seen anyone pull anything as crazy as the Toby but that could mean they were trying to stay under the radar. This is the most busted thing Iā€™ve seen on BB and one of the most busted things Iā€™ve seen in any game really. They need to pull legendary gear from public pvp. This kind of exploit could kill this game with its current population.
