A Parting Gift - You must be sick of these I'm leaving now threads

What lag? -
I hear some people complain about lag. BUT I really don’t think it’s a universal issues I actually play with almost no lag at all. (I haven’t played one match where I felt that lag was a burden… (knock on wood)).
I think this is your individual lag.
Lower your broadband usage when playing games that you think this is an issue. To do it just disconnect your WiFi connected devices. And whatever you do don’t go on Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter while playing. These are site that eat uo your broadband.
Also if you don’t know how to change your nat type to open, do a quick Google search and see how much that helps.
I’m on Xbox by the way.

Sorry, I specifically meant the amount of health/time to kill. Characters in Broderlands are quite resilient.

I main Kleese and often die within seconds because I popped my head out too far. He is basically a giant floating target. If there was 2 of you vs 1 Kleese in the open and you didn’t kill him, I would put that down to an issue with your technique more than an issue with TTK. Even if you were mistaken and it wasn’t Kleese, 2 vs 1 in this game usually ends in death for the 1 unless they have an escape ability (which is really the whole point of having one).

[…] if anyone mentions a flaw or a dislike […][/quote]

Here’s your problem. You’re using manipulative wording, there.

Manipulative how? You’ve presented Battleborn’s TTK variance as a flaw, but then you try to add in that people are attacking you for your disliking it. Whereas they’re actually combating your rather insistent and wrong-headed perspective that a high TTK is actually a flaw, rather than personal taste.

Let me clear this up: TTK is personal taste.

High or low? It’s not a flaw. The Call of Duty crowd love coffee break matches, so a low TTK is desirable for them. They want a rotating door game, where they’re in and out in short order. A game which can be dropped at a moment’s notice with zero investment if need be.

It’s not a game about tactics, it’s a game about snap judgements, reflexes, and high-stakes risks. It’s about spectacle.

That’s suitable… for Call of Duty and its cousins.

However, there was a time when team-based shooters required tactics and the high TTK was actually quite common. Look up games like Unreal Tournament (the original, and 2k3/2k4), Quake III Arena, and many others from that period. It was a time of team-based tactics, where you’d actually need tactics to win.

You couldn’t just ‘noscope’ a person and hope for an insta-win, you had to actually work with your team to take someone down. You had to think, coordinate, and observe patterns and rythms, you had to understand the flow of the game and the layout of the map. You had to know, in your head, which paths that flag runner could take whilst fleeing from you so you could work with your team mates to setup an ambush.

It was a methodical game, more of a thinker’s experience. It wasn’t about spectacle, or those snap judgements. Reflexes were a factor, sure, as they always are in games like this. But it wasn’t the be all and end all. You couldn’t wipe out an entire time in five seconds because reflexes like you can in modern low TTK shooters.

It’s not a flaw.

It’s like saying… Hey, I like bananas. You don’t, you like strawberries? That’s a flaw because I dislike them. And then you get offended when someone rebukes you for your ‘opinion.’ It’s very silly. It’s just a matter of taste.

You need to get over this. If you want to move on, fine. But you’re not going to have Battleborn magical schoolgirl transformation into a low TTK game. That’s not happening. Sorry.

I don’t know if that was an unintentional typo, but I approve either way haha. Good name for the 3rd instalment, Borderlands 3: The Broderlands, with Rhys and Vaughn from TFTBL :acmaffirmative:
