Pub stomping is absurdly boring, but it’s also frustrating expecting the team to be bad, and then getting stomped bc your playing your worse characters. Seems like ranked is very hard to implement and very far away.

Proposed solution: A visible ELO

This will allow teams to see what caliber player they are up against and know whether to go try hard or play new characters, etc. Also give players a reason to play the game and work hard…higher visible ELO to show off.

Possible problem: people that want to pubstomp will see high ELO’s and lobby shop.

Possible solution to problem: no idea

YES. I have wanted this for a long time. A tiered ranking would work best, like League or Clash of Clans or something.

Overwatch is doing something similar, making players elo rating show somewhat in the form of tiered rankings so we can somewhat get a strong idea of how it’d go based off that.

I’d think it’d be a great idea.

Side note though, yall could be like me and lore all 25 characters, that way even if you get a random pick from falling asleep waiting on a team, you will be able to contribute. Don’t ask how I know this (I fell asleep a few times)

I’m good with most of the characters but it’s more of a team comp thing you know

I disagree. It already happens all the time that if you’re matched against CR 100 characters you can’t try out a new character, because they’re going to pick their best and try their asses off. A visible Elo is just going to guarantee that players with a higher Elo are going to have to pick their best characters every match, because everybody is going to try their hardest against them.

Yeah, OW did this and all the best/worst players ended up having to wait ages for games as everyone was blocking them as soon as they popped into the lobby. Just so you know.

Hence the point of this post.

No, not hence the point of this post. Please reread what I wrote.

“This will allow teams to see what caliber player they are up against and know whether to go try hard or play new characters, etc” -OP

“A visible ELO is just going to guarentee that players with a higher ELO are going to have to pick their best characters every match, because everybody is going to try their hardest against them” -You

Lol? What’s the issue with knowing whether it’s going to be a try hard game or a stomp…?

Actually I see the inverse. The best players pick fun ones. In ow, you can switch. So the best players switch when they lose. In bb, I’m probably one of the better players (I hate saying that kinda stuff, it’s disgustingly arrogant) and I just pick whoever fits unless I’m working on a character.

Also, op’s solution would make five man’s less terrifying. If I can see each is half my elo, I ain’t lobby shopping!

I do the same thing. I’ll wait until the end to pick someone who will help us win. I’ve gotten almost all looked fine so all I need to do is level.

Basically exactly the reason that I gave. He’s saying that there’s no way to know whether or not it’ll be a tough match, so sometimes you pick a new character and the enemy team picks their best and tries their hardest while you try to learn a new character. If a visible Elo (And it IS Elo, it’s a name, not an acronym) is added then anybody with a high Elo is going to have to try their hardest every match, because anybody playing against them is most likely going to see their level and decide to go all out.

Yeah exactly the point you gave. My point is that what you are saying it will do is EXACTLY what the OP is asking for. So yes, as I originally said, hence the point of this post.

It’s not though. His problem is that it’s frustrating when want to try new characters and then get stomped for not bringing your A game. With a visible Elo that’s going to happen every match for mid-high Elo players.
