A talk about Star Wars

Me personally I think it’s an odd thing to see a whiter than snow character like Nick Fury become a tougher looking but totally different bald black man. The only thing they share in common is leadership and eye patches.

But that’s just me.

Racism in Star Wars?

BLACK RAGE!!!

Some people are convinced that it’s fake and the whole “Star Wars promotes white genocide, we are super racist” thing is a marketing ploy.

I don’t know, but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised. Mad Max got so much free publicity and got everyone talking about something that most likely would have been ignored all because some super misongynst guy wrote an angry blog post that went viral.

Not only is it free publicity, it creates a narrative where Star Wars is the good guy, no one wants articles appearing decrying a movie as racist/sexist/homophobic/whatever, but if this happens then no-one writes that stuff, instead they praise it (and if people do write negative things about it in relation to the issues they get ignored or even attacked, See: anyone who wrote that Mad Max wasn’t feminist).
Won’t lie. The thought hit me. Especially after mad max, which is less feminist and more anti-objectification. The negative buzz and feedback carried it long and far. It’s not a stretch to do the same thing with star wars. Oh humans. Damn us and our human stuff.

Now that being said… I think it’s pretty helpful to the star wars franchise to have the two listed as leads. Historically, SW has not been… great with things like females or racial stereotypes.

Given an explanation of either human stupidity OR conspiracy, assume human stupidity every time. There are definitely racists stupid enough to be crying about a black lead.

what dude?

You can blame the comics for that - Marvel changed his look to that of Jackson in the Ultimate version and the movies went with that version instead of the original.

Yea, this trailer was pretty baller. I can’t freakin’ wait to see this. It really brings back the feels of the old movies.

My guess is because Disney owns both ESPN and Star Wars and knew there’d be huge audience; Especially after they promote the fact that they were going to premiere the new trailer.

it was Philly vs NY and they are 2 huge markets… Monday night Football get’s huge ratings… I am not sure why you would have to ask

She meant Finn, the black Stormtrooper/Jedi. And I agree with Jo.

All trailers mashed into one-

Yea, that’s epic.

so, what’s the word on Luke Skywalker not being in the poster?

No idea. But surely you all know about how people are complaining that a main character is totally a black guy, right?

I do. What level of an inferiority complex did that arise from?

First it’s an uproar because a storm trooper was black *gasp!

Now, where’s my prototypical anglosaxan protagonist? It must be racism! The idiocy. Though an argument could be made that this was to make up for Lando being the only black guy in the original trilogy.
Only two legitimate reasons (kinda) I can think of is lack of actors that the studio/director feel could pull off the character well and/or the writer all but made the character to be portrayed in a fashion that wouldn’t mesh well with an actor with a racial background besides that was intended for in the writer’s mind.

Droppin this here-

Kinda funny/cool easter egg in Battlefront

To be fair, your view is probably limited to only the direct front of your face and no peripheral vision.

That said, I’d totally order a suit of that.

At a guess, it’s the Battle of Toprawa, directly precluding “Episode IV: A New Hope”.
