I’m not sure if many people will care about this, but let’s give it a shot:
I’ve been playing FPS games for as long as I’ve been gaming and one thing that I’ve never quite understood is aim assist. It seems like aim assist is mandatory in FPS games, but why? Personally I never use it and I don’t know how many people do or don’t, but I simply don’t like the idea. In my experience, having the screen flick over to the nearest enemy when I ADS is distracting. I’m trying to line them up myself then I ADS and the line is set for me, I find it frustrating. But what about players who play on a lower sensitivity or aren’t very good at aiming? Well sure the assistance is great in a beginner scenario, but is it too much? When sometimes you don’t have to aim at all, just ADS and wait for the aim assist to target for you, that’s not really a reflection of skill and can be abused by players who rely on and somewhat abuse aim assist by spamming ADS to continually keep a lock on their opponent.
Perhaps it should be removed altogether, or perhaps I’m just biased against it because I never use it. Or, perhaps there should be a level cap for players who do deliberately abuse it to pick up cheap kills. Let’s say, you have the option to use it up until level 10, then it’s permanently disabled? Or maybe it doesn’t matter and doesn’t give as much of an advantage in Battleborn as it does in more traditional FPS games. I dunno, but I hope to hear some feedback, cheers.
