It’s not redundant because you wouldn’t be using it on the person, it augments her burst healing letting her get more than one target.
The heal on riptide is pathetically low, spreading out a weak heal to a lot of targets makes less sense than having the ability to spew a large heal to a few less. Especially since it offsets the issue of her running out of osmosis during a fight.
But it’s fine, please continue to use the less effective option because it’s too complicated.
Here the counter argument though
1.If your playing with random even using the riptide heal the morons dont stand in it same with geyser so that off sets.
2 .Geyser just like tide can be used while there multiple allies on the front lines but only geyser will instantly get them to continue the assault usually they will notice riptide heal sure but they will still back off because its not healing them fast enough to insure they will not drop from a random hit at least with geyser heal they can keep up the pressure a few more seconds. If you watch that vid i survive the assault of a mellka and reyna that PT me due to the burst heals from osmosis and geyser riptide would not have saved me in that instance.
3.Random Players again even if i trap some one in geyser will sometimes ignore a target but hell it will still heal them so it served its purpose on two fronts. And as a healer healing comes first people have been getting kill’s with out geyser and they still will so saving it for a set up and holding off on a allies that mite need to get toped off still selfish imho.
If 3-2-18 is your best game games like the vids i linked are a rarity 8-1-17 and 47k worth healing done
Never claimed to be of equal skill level to you or anyone else. I was discussing how I play. I am confident I can heal targets with Riptide, not with Geyser. If you can, great, you should do that. But I took objection to being told I wasn’t trying to heal because I chose the other option (not by you). I do the best I can.
There’s no need for you to be insulting, sarcastic, or belittle someone’s efforts because they chose a different helix option. Your choice may be the best for you based on your skill and play style. That doesn’t make it the best for everyone.
UMMMMM, no. I still play her. She is still amazing at everything.
Dmg, pushing, CC, and healing.
She honestly has one of the best CC ability’s in the game, can push as good as Orendi, if not better, and burst heal to save peoples lives, which Miko can’t do.Sure Miko is a way better healer then her, she has amazing burst healing.

It would not take much to make her a straight CC character and remove the healing all together. Bring her speed up to a average rate, make her health comparable to others in her class. the healing is extraneous and what is causing this OP mess.
Alani would be a solid character without the regeneration.
I’m actually curious if what would happen if she couldn’t heal herself at all and could ONLY heal teammates. That would be an intinteresting design if they are trying to make an "ATTAC K-HEALER"
As it goes, all support have a way of healing/shielding themselves. It would be weird if she could not heal herself.

Yea, but all other supports have been brought inline to discourage this going solo strategy. Alani as she stands is capable of going toe to toe with just about any character in the game due to self heal thus negating her support role.
Her CC is very very capable. Making it so she can ONLY heal her teammates prevents her from going beyond her support role.
I would recommend increasing her speed and lowering her health and dps.
Her osmosis is based on hits not kills. That is what she should be doing. Landing hits, slowing, binding and keeping her teammates in the fight. Her moves already either go through enemies and teammates or just appear under them so getting hits wouldn’t be a problem for a skilled player. After much thought I think that is the correct design if they MUST go with an “attack healer”
My preference is to kill the dps from her primary. She would still have some of the best control in the game, her healing (and would be fine with making it so she heals off healing others and can’t heal herself directly), and plenty of AoE damage from her skills without being the wrecking crew she is now.

Correct me if I’m wrong here as I stopped playing Alani awhile ago but the geyser heal had a way bigger AOE than the geyser itself. Like bigger than a sunspot’s radius. Hitting an enemy while healing multiple allies with it is super easy if your team isn’t full stupid.

I’ve tested that and it’s true the geyser puts out a large green ring that heals allies when it erupts
yes the aoe ring of the heal is big even bigger with the 25% radius boost its stupuid easy to hit people with it and use it for cc at the same time
LoL when you are a dmg dealer and you are fight a healer the healer is not supposed to out stun, out heal, and out damage you. Before my buddy literally would take on 4 people at point blank range and kill all of them np when a char can do that somethings wrong. I thoroughly enjoy the nerf because before you could just go all dmg and you would be unstoppable. You are just sad cause you relied on a practically invincible char and when they took her down a notch you started dying.

I’m noticing that she’s not on both sides of every single match now and people are playing different characters. I don’t think I ever killed one without a massive DPS ultimate on a weakened alani… which is not something you want for a support, they should be easier to take down 1v1 than other characters or when focused so they fill a more supportive role.
I’ve been saving coins since the release of info that you would need around 50k to unlock her, and am now at about 17k so it’s going to be a while until I even get to try her out. I think that is a major issue in and of itself, releasing a character that people cannot play themselves makes everything they do seem unfair as it takes you by complete surprise and you can’t understand their strengths, weaknesses, or utility properly until you actually do get to use them. I understand she is still technically free, but unless you play nonstop you will most likely be like me, farming the coins for her until basically the next character drop… building animosity as you don’t understand what she’s doing and just assuming she is overpowered.
I mean, it takes me so long to farm those coins that I might not have enough to buy her by the time the next character comes out so I skip her entirely. Especially since I jump on for 2 or 3 games and get matched 4v5 or against a premade of 5 most of the time and just close application to go play overwatch.
Squishy healers are useless. It would be more appropriate to say you wouldn’t expect a healer/support to burst you down like an assassin. Miko is not squishy. Reyna is not squishy. Ambra is not squishy. Kleese can be depending on situation, but is very hard to kill when dug in.

Oh no… I have to use one piece of Hp+ gear to end above pre-nerf stats.

Yeah… -inappropriate motion here-

While you aren’t wrong, it makes gearing more selfish. As someone that wants to play Alani as an actual support, I’d prefer to use that slot for healing gear.
The real problem with Alani IMO is that many people are choosing her not as a support, or even as a controller, but because she is a killing machine.
I still find geysers damage amp to be ridiculous 30% damage amp (highest in the game)and you’re in the air in a giant bubble. Yes geyser take a bit to erupt but if she drops it behind you odds are you won’t see it
The damage amp has no place in her kit, IMO, which I have said before, because you are already making the target easy to focus, which is already very good. It should be removed.
