If it canā€™t be better than Green it canā€™t be Legendary either.

I mean it canā€™t really be proven just like that but itā€™s the most reasonable conclusion as Iā€™ve never even seen anything blue or better excluding the Tinderbox and the other assigned drops.

Yes I understand you, I meant: do you have any references? Have you farmed objects before Three Horns? or maybe a post somewhere in the webā€¦ or in these forums

Oh, I see. Nothing to back it up but personal experience and word of others.
Having played this game for way too long however Iā€™ve opened many red chests and killed many enemies during the prologue and Iā€™ve just never seen anything better than green.
It is however known that loot is limited early stage by restricting which guns are even able to drop. In the same way I would also assume the same for rarity so we could get used to the game.

Which is bizarre for the assigned drops as they last ridiculously long in Normal Mode.

I can however open at least 100 red chests and see how the overall quality looks like. At least 1 blue should pop up if it isnā€™t restricted as almost only Pistols can spawn as mentioned in the article I linked which would debunk my own claim.

You can get loot midgets from red chests, but Iā€™ve only had them spawn in Frostburn Canyon.

The red chest on the flaming pipes above the area right before Incinerator Clayton and the red chest that is in the small bandit camp above where the vending machines are located at the beginning of the map have both spawned loot midgets numerous times for me.

Iā€™ve never seen them spawn from any other red chests that I can remember though.

Youā€™re missing the black ammo boxes from arid nexus. They are similar to (and easy to confuse with) the green ammo crate on the 4th line.

I didnā€™t know the yellow Hyperion chests didnā€™t spawn oranges. Iā€™ve added seconds to my LLM runs for no reason. Seconds I say!

That is the right box. It can also spawn loot midgets.

After checking a few maps, I donā€™t think the green version appears in any maps with LMs.

I have seen LMs in The Dust, although they are rare. I also remember once seeing a LM in Heroā€™s Pass, but that was a long time ago.

You are absolutely right. Didnā€™t notice it before, but that box is actually the only one that is documented to spawn loot midgets, not the other one. I was just in the Dust thinking I might find one but none of that.

  • Jimmy Jenkins (very rare)
  • GUN Loader
  • WAR Loader
  • JET Loader
  • Engineer
  • Combat Engineer
  • Marauder
  • Psycho (rare)
  • Nomad (very rare)
  • Goliath (extremely rare)
  • Rat (no footage available yet)
  • there are no loot midget Constructor nor Buzzard (whhyyy!)

Am I missing one?

No, I didnā€™t take a screen; yes, I did get a legendary from the frozen dudes in the fridge.

Ok, I updated it based on the new information, also made the distinction between red chests from DLCs and main story (given that loot midgets are not present in DLC as far as I know) and added the last missing objects.

Has anybody found a legendary or better yet, a loot midget in a spiderant mound? (not to be confused with a skag pile).

Are there any loot midgets in these areas: Southpaw Steam & Power, Lynchwood, Friendship Gulag, The Fridge, Caustic Caverns, Southern Shelf (soaring dragon or pirate bay)?

Can a loot midget be inside a chest on the back of a loot goon goliath?

Not sure if the Bandit Slaughter counts as the Fridge but I saw my one and only (so far) tubby midget there (not quite a LLM to be sure but still quite rareā€¦)

About the gas tanks, Iā€™ve managed to get a shredifier to drop from one of those at lynchwood. No proofs however but I think Iā€™ve seen other people reporting legendaries from gas tanks either here or at the old forums.

Looking over the list again, has somebody really seen a LLM spawn out of those tall, rectangular Hyperion ammo crates? Iā€™ve never seen that in thousands of hours playing this game.

Of course Iā€™ve never seen a LLM spawn from a washing machine either, but a friend that I play with says he say it once. Maybe just extremely rare?

Most unusual place Iā€™ve seem a LLM spawn from was a toilet- that totally took me by surpriseā€¦
