Am enjoying the beta so far but have some issues

The beta is fun and I am looking forward to getting the full game in future but there are some issues with it that take the shine off the experience:

1: Collision Detection - The Collision detection, whilst much improved over the Alpha, is still dodgy in places and it’s still all too easy for large characters like Montana and Isic to get stuck. The Isic fight at the end of Episode one is really bad for this problem since you can stuck in his legs and not be able to move. I’ve also seen several instances where enemies have literally walked through walls or objects like they weren’t even there.

2: Hardcore Balancing - I fully appreciate that Hardcore is meant to be harder than normal mode but the enemies feel a little too much like bullet sponges and your shield is virtually worthless until you get it massively upgraded :frowning:.

3: Multiplayer - Just like in the Alpha, Multiplayer can be very unbalanced at times and mean that regaining the lead is very hard if not impossible.

4: Montana’s Minigun - Whilst the Minigun is great at short to medium range, it sucks at long range which means that hitting distant enemies in the story becomes a game of chance.

5: Lag - Now this doesn’t happen very often but sometimes the game can lag really badly for about 3 seconds when there’s a lot going on.

6: The music - I love the score for this game but it doesn’t seem to play very often and in general, there isn’t a lot of music except when certain big events happen. I would love for the music to play more often as not having much of it, hurts the atmosphere somewhat.

7: Respawn times - The respawn times get ridiculous after a while, having to wait 45secs is not cool.

8: Empty team slots not filled after someone disconnects - Being able to join an in-progress game would really help ease some of the balancing issues.

9: Include an FOV Slider - Seriously, this was in the Handsome Collection so why isn’t it in Battleborn as well?

10: Mid-Match character changes - Overwatch will allow this and it would really help ease the balance issues in the MP side of the game.

Overall I do really like this game but there are some rough edges that need filing off for it to be a true classic like Borderlands  .

Overwatch is the only game I’ve seen do this and not having played it, I can’t comment on if it is a good idea or not. However, I don’t think it would work in Battleborn. Seems like it would just allow things to become crazy unbalanced.

4: Montana’s Minigun - Whilst the Minigun is great at short to medium range, it sucks at long range which means that hitting distant enemies in the story becomes a game of chance.

This is tough because it’s good that his minigun is shorter range for pvp but bad when it comes to pve. Melee characters are in the same place though. Good in pvp and not so great in pve. Gearbox may want to make some pve specific tweaks, otherwise, we may just have to deal with the fact that some characters are just ill-suited for pve.

Pretty much agree with you on everything else though. Great game Gearbox has got here, I hope it sells gallons.

  1. Yes. Game can become unbalanced becouse It is intented to. If you play bad and feed/let enemy team level up more than your team, you deserve to be punished and better team wins.

  2. Respawn time should be long at mid / end game in game like this. It encourages to team work. It gives slight breathe after gank and opportunity to push.
I personally think respawn time should be a little longer at mid game.

  3. Player entering mid game will ruin your last changes of winning. If other champions are already leveled and level 1 enters the field he is just easy exp for enemy team. Player who enters basically comes feed enemy team and It will crush your team.
So this feature should not be option.

  4. Fov slider would be nice if is possible to do without fps dropping.

  5. Mid match character changing doesnt give anything for the game. Teams could just check enemy team and change counters for their champions till the end of time.
Build good team at start with what you think you can win. If It doesnt play out, think what went wrong, learn and become good :acmaffirmative:

Im not bashing you even didnt agree with you. Just pointing my view

I think the respawn timers being long is a good thing, especially that late in the game. It rewards you for playing smart and if you mess up you’re allowing the enemy team to push at a vital time, which is a great thing. Makes matches tense, I get that it can be frustrating but just play it safer and life will be good.

Definitely agreed about the collision though, it’s absolutely my number one problem with the game and it’s really jarring at times especially if I’m playing a melee character.

On the topic of allowing mid match changes I don’t think they’ll budge just due to the fact it has in game leveling, using Overwatch isn’t a fair example because you aren’t leveling characters for abilities since it’s more in the vein of TF 2 so it makes sense. I don’t play MOBA’s but do DOTA or LoL allow it? Gonna guess no because of it.
