There are various powerful playstyles for her, just maybe not for mayhem 4.
this is pretty true for all of them though… most of the VH’s only have 1-2 viable options for M4 because of the raw base damage you need.

one thing I’d like to point out is that Moze finds diversity in the weapons that she has available to her. a lot of the other VH’s are pigeon-holed into a kit of weapons which have unique effects that the build is predicated on. aside from recursion amara, literally every build out there seems to be a combination of Maggie’s, Cutsmans, Kyb’s worth, and lucian’s, with brainstomer and face puncher as support weapons.
Moze on the other hand, is looking more for damage types rather than weapon effects, and can utilize a whole host of different weapons which drastically effect how the build plays out. sure, splash damage moze looks the same on paper as far as the skill build goes, but there’s a dozen different ways to play splash master depending on the weapon kit you use. the list of effective splash weapons on a splash master is longer than the list of viable weapons for most other VH builds combined, and they almost all come with a different play style, and slightly different skill setup depending on whether your build can afford TCP or FitSD without killing yourself. splash builds also have the option to choose between gun damage or grenade damage as primary. there are some incredibly powerful grenades out there in the hands of moze, especially ghast calls and cluster F*cks.
then you have your choice of shields, between transformer, stop gap, BBB, and whatever else you find worth it. these choices depend a lot on the artifact you choose to roll with, whether a deathless, otto idol, or victory rush, but they each generate differing playstyles and build variation. people are also doing autobear builds now as well.
i get it. we’re seeing fl4k and amara do some busted stuff still, but that doesn’t mean moze sucks. tbh i think, other than vampyr being our only sustain (and new moxxi weapons coming thursday may fix that for us without changes to the trees), moze is pretty alright imo. if anything, i think the other two are too powerful, and the fact that takedown is balanced for 4 people rather than 1 has been a big part of hiding that for the last month. most people that are still playing are playing solo, so solo-ability is what’s become the benchmark, and because takedown exists, “if it can’t solo takedown, it’s bad” is the mindset. lack of build diversity mostly comes from lack of available skill points. with only 48 points we’re really restricted on what we can do as far as distribution goes. and that likely won’t change for almost a year.
imagine if moze had a skill that gave shield gate, that would be very cool.
I think at launch Moze was stronger then zane and they were equally badly designed. It was just harder to see on moze because he raw power masked it. But the devs kept butchering Moze to the point that they revealed the flaws in their own design.
I actually think fl4k is the one that has more freedom when picking weapons, you can do just fine with normal weapons if you build correctly, im running a gama burst focused build and i do more than enough damage with my weapons and i avoided legendaries completely i just pick up what does the most dmg and fits the playstyle i want and it works, with moze on the other hand, you need legendaries if you want to do mayhem 4, even mayhem 3, unless you glitch her.
bangsticks, balogney poneys, magnums, pocket rockets, and a whole slew of alien barrel weapons are amazing on moze, from rare rarity and upwards. tons of non-legendary weapons are great on moze, they’re just not the same weapons that are great on other characters. maliwan splash damage smgs are amazing on moze, and as such, so is the hyperion hivemind. a lot of these weapons are also classed as awful by the other classes because of their ammo consumption and frequent reloading, but they’re amazing for moze because of the bottomless mag tree.
I agree and honestly Hex Moze wasnt any more OP than any of the sh*t you could do in other BL games. Like does anyone remember Shamfleeting? Or just the Pimpernel in general lol. Also the Hex wasnt even op, like a base Hex was pretty meh but the Reccuring prefix is what broke it. Allowing 1 grenade to basically turn into 6 was what made it seem like the Hex was broken af. Course now beam grenades just dont even work with Moze because GB think its broken or something idk. Regardless Moze just now kind of exists with like 2 viable builds while Amara has like at least 15 different builds…
What i’m hearing is buff Amara
Typical gearbox employee.
I think ppl confuse quality of life items with viable items, if you have to reload because you dont have ammo regen then its just quality of life lost, but other good things come from using other characters, its like when ppl go “THIS IS USELESS, THEY NERFED IT TO HELL” when something kills a boss in 8 seconds instead of 5, like, wtf… I dont know, i have to test Amara and Zane a bit more, but Fl4k can use all my moze weaponry perfectly, most of the guns are actually better on him because of raw damage output.
endgame maybe, first run through shes great
Slightly… with the exact same weapon moze is doing 15k + (3-5k micro) with decent stats on mod, where fl4k is doing 40k with the same roll on mod (not maxed) - vs the jack dummy. So even proccing annoints she doesnt catch up to fl4ks base value (mindsweeper vs friendbot, 45% jacobs crit w/ maggie)
Weird, I thought she was in a good place. I’ve been running through m4 no problem. I do well in takedown(not solo). She’s my favorite of the vh’s and I dig the different builds I run.
Are you chucking Tediores?
Right now I would agree that there was any much build variety when it comes to M4 but there can be a huge variety in play style! People get way too carried away saying that moze doesn’t work in M4 but you can pretty much use any of her legendary class mods and make a unique build/play style. I think I got bored of tedious chucking pretty fast (although it was super fun for a while) and played about with all the class nods and they are all viable, so I dunno what I’m missing here?
Anyways lowering solo takedown difficulty and getting these new moxxi guns should make things a little better
teddy chucking absolutely isnt necessary in m4. m4 just does a good job in poking the holes that are already there in gear and skill build setups. m3 is certainly problematic in some ways, but things didn’t have enough health, other than some bosses, to really show the inconsistencies in gear and skill choices. M4 changes that and forces you to make the right choices in synergies, etc.
no , you are not the only one . 99% of the skill tree spec of a build is very very similar because theres so much bad skill on the skill tree.
majority of the “op build” is overreacted by the community , nobody ever care about X being too good in the past , instead of calling a nerf they will simply do it themselves
