If that’s true, then I don’t understand what the big deal is.
Not to spawn a side discussion, but I think the real problem lies with dupes/trading - which undermines the heart and soul of a looter ARPG. God gear with god rolls in every slot is not something that anyone but the most no-lifer of no-lifers should have been able to attain after only 2.5 months. Doling out nerfs because of how the item/skill performs in a perfect god-tier build is bad policy. The players who trade and dupe to put these builds together are just going to move on and find the next ridiculously OP build. And then what? Nerf again? So that when a normie player gets lucky and finds one of these items by simply playing the game, they get screwed out of a great power upgrade because the item was nerfed due to how it performed alongside several pieces of god-tier perfect gear.
I know there’s a time for nerfs, but it needs to be carefully thought through and balanced with normal/casual players in mind.

I am so confused, you say they should fix it but you are going to go exploit it?
If you have fun being OP why do you hope they will take that away?
I for one am under the belief it can stay as is since it requires specific gear and a specific VH, you have to go out of your way to be this way so I don’t see the issue leaving it as is in a PVE game.
I main FL4K just so you know I am not doing this but it doesn’t hurt my experience at all that others are soloing Wotan.

Don’t get me wrong, the com it poweful, and definitely designed to make M4 easier, but something like the video requires a full, detailed setup.

I’m going to exploit it because it’s there and I like gear. Since it’s a gear based game, I’m going to optimize for farming said gear.
But then I’ll get bored as hell because I’ll already have the most powerful gear and can take out the most powerful boss. There is no point after that. What point is there to farm when you are already a god?
“But just don’t do it!” isn’t an argument. It’s in the game, it is most efficient, it will be done. It becomes the ‘right’ way to play, and eventually everyone in matchmaking will be OP Amaras one-clipping everything. Youtubers will run out of stuff to talk about because Amara Driver is literally the best way to play. Build diversity will die in favor of one class with one com. Woooooooo fuuuuun.
Listen, if the expected power level for the game is that M4 Takedown end-boss is supposed to be killed in ~2 minutes, and that’s intentional, then all of the other characters need buffs. Start by rolling back Moze and FL4K, because even then they still won’t be able to compete with this.
But we know they won’t do that. That’s not the design philosophy they’re going with, as evidenced by the mega-nerfs last month and their stated design intent from their videos.
I’m asking for the development team to be consistent. Either everyone is overpowered or nobody is. Amara is an outlier that is far and away better than the other classes. That means that if I want to feel overpowered, I have to play Amara. That’s crap.
And the “specific gear” is a single com that you can get from a side quest. The com from the latest patch is broken and scales uncapped into insane damage values. That’s not a combo, or impressive, that’s a bug.
I main FL4K. I also play all 3 other characters. I want them all to be comparable (not equal, not perfectly balanced - comparable). If Amara with the Driver the new baseline, then Gearbox has some work cut out for them. But it’s way easier from a development standpoint if they just nerf the com.

You are absolutely exaggerating. The gear required is: Spiritual Driver class mod, anointed recursion, elemental projector, ANY grenade with +50% elemental damage, ANY shield with +50% elemental damage. That is not a large list of gear, and most of it is not possible without the COM. You should not be able to kill the absolute hardest content in the game in under a minute lol. That is literally faster than people who are exploiting. It’s not balanced, it doesn’t make sense.
Like I actually don’t even care that much, I just find it surprising that people are sitting here arguing for it like it’s reasonable lol. Like if this was a clip of someone taking advantage of 4 different exploits, then okay, they’re cheating to get a kill in under a minute. But this is intended gameplay. Is there any reason I should keep playing the VH I’m playing besides the fact that I chose him at launch and have time spent into him?
Finally back on the “gear” topic, you should have god rolls if you’re going for M4 takedown solo, and it should still be a bit challenging…

you mean exactly what they did to flakker? i mean, it’s a great shotgun - but what really made it strong were the build synergy and annointments. i have a 120% flakker on moze with a class mod that boost 31% shotgun dmg, 25% weapon damage and gives me 2 extra points in desperate measures. honestly, i don’t see any drastic increase in TTK vs something else in regular gameplay(not bad either though mind you, except vs tinks). it’s good vs some bosses, but it’s not better than cutsman vs the same boss.
The Cutsman is a near perfect gun. Not even a nerf can bring it down.

In a game where we are repeating kills hundreds of times to farm items, a 1 minute kill isn’t unreasonable… especially when you have to run the whole takedown dungeon each time.
Instead of nerfing a character to make this process longer, more tedious… I think the other characters should be powered up a bit so they are also able to keep up.

Not really. A crap shield with a good annointment won’t keep you alive long enough to do much. A leg com of any sort with good skills and stats is not the easiest to come by, even with the cake farm of Sylestro in this case.

I am not saying that Amara is fine, or there shouldn’t be some balance, but there will always be creative ■■■■■■■■■■■■■ out there that can string together something like this. Sometimes it’s just harder to find those exploits and synergies than others. Amara has easy synergies compared to Zane, for example, who I can do well with, but struggle all the same
I don’t disagree with you, but this is in all borderlands games. It is a part of the fun of it. For example, It took people less than a day to figure out the exploit for raid in the commander Lilith DLC, these things happen, it’s a borderlands game, and they provide (albeit an exploitative one) a method to do content that a player may not be able to do otherwise.
Yes, there should be some more considerations for balance, but most of these posts seem like a crowd gathering pitchforks to burn the monster.
To put things in perspective, while I am currently working on my Amara, I play as all 4. I use gear I find fun personally. I am currently built around a good skill, but bad stat driver and two westerguns. Can I do m4 content? Yes, most definitely. Can I drop Wotan in any sort of impressive time. Nope. Not a snowballs chance currently.
All I am trying to say is that it is a matter of perspective.

Man it seems like you have no self restraint and ruin the game for yourself. You complain its too easy but you have to do it because its the most efficient but the moment you get what you want you get bored.
I for one like having one character be super strong and grind out weird gear for my others to try new and interesting builds. I prefer the op because then I dont have to dedicate days getting the correct gear for a specific build. Having OP build is what keeps me playing but I guess its a difference of opinion.

We are considering this.
Here’s the issue for players like you.
If this becomes the new standard of power, future content will be balanced around it. IE OP levels.
If that happens, a player like you, only falls more behind and gets excluded more.
So while it may seem like we are trying to “nerf Amara” and hurt the casual player due to min/maxers the case is actually the opposite of that.
We are asking for obvious extreme outliers to be brought in line, and for no future egregious things like this to be added. Not to “nerf Amara”.
