Ambra basically useless now

Ambra player here, gotta say, she still ranks among the best I’ve played with. Even with the nerfs, I find myself in the top 3 of every pvp match I play and find myself undualable against most characters.

After going in today and playing Ambra myself, given all of the tips I’d seen in this thread, my opinion of her has changed. While I still feel that her healing is still worse than Miko’s a good Ambra can definitely get good results. I;m going to chock this up to being that Ambra is balanced people just need to learn to play her better.

Glad to hear!

Definitely true, I played her the first time yesterday and I went 8 / 1 / 16 in PVP - I pretty much just hovered around the front lines dropping orbs, then late game would bum rush people who were already fighting and flame wind their eyes out.

I finally finished her damn solar wind kills and got her lore challenge completed, as well as all her mutations. I do like her but in the end game pvp stuff, I don’t enjoy her just because it’s such a hard start to get exp in the beginning with her. Her basic attack is weak, solar wind with no upgrades is weak, and sunspots get one shotter with no upgrades. Doesn’t seem right when other characters function just fine at level one and can get xp to level up quickly.

Ambra is not a lane pusher. Drop a sunspot on the minions to tag them and let a teammate do the real damage. If you really need to kill them make sure your heat is full and melee the Shepherd first if there is one.

Even the ghetto minions take out that sunspot hella fast, and you have both teams running straight down the lane at the start of matches trying to push and even if you get assists on the minions, it’s pathetically low. Ambra needs her basic attack back - or a medium between the nerf and what she had before maybe - to make her realistically viable long-term in the pvp section. Campaign, not so bad because you hit those early levels so fast.

Super geeks that excel at all the things and never go negative in pvp probably still ■■■■ at level one, but I have a feeling that they would ■■■■ with anything at level one, lol.

I kind of agree here. I play Miko quite often and I find that it’s difficult to level up quickly at the start with healing skills alone. I usually horde shards and build stuff to accomplish this.

Ambra can heal players all over the map via sunspots, plus her staff if specced for it. She can’t be as strong as Miko in healing a single person or she would be vastly stronger as a healer because of this.

I had an aumbra last night that was wrecking my team. Doesn’t seem useless to me.

I haven’t unlocked my Ambra yet but I think she will be my main. I get frustrated playing as Miko.

I still haven’t played a match against Ambra either which is weird.

I noticed that there isn’t many Ambra players on the Xbox One. I am working on Galalia’s lore atm and it’s tough to find one on the opposing team. Ambra isn’t even hard to unlock. There’s got to be a reason behind that.

I wouldn’t say that she’s useless, but those early levels in pvp with her are awful. If you’re team is bad or the other team just pushes so hard that you can’t get minion or player kills/assists/build defenses, it’s not a pleasant game at all. Fair enough that the other team is that strong or whatever but I just feel she should at least be able to compete at early levels.

Yeah nobody plays on ps4 as ambra if run into maybe 4 total 2 on my team and 2 on the other team. I had to keep playing with the one ambra to get my lore but yeah nobody on ps4 plays her since the nerf 1 shes to weak not getting into that again and 2 people don’t want to heal all the newer people that don’t know what a moba is or what roles are for. But I feel bad for ambra cause the ones I have run into when I’m gal I get on all chat and tell everyone to focus her give me the kill for my lore I’m 12/25 so far would be more but a lot of ks.

Joe Blow heard she got nerfed and scurried away shouting “Unclean! Unclean!”. It happens sometimes. Give it a bit and she’ll start showing up again.

I love the interactions between Ambra and Galilea when they are on opposing team. Super dope. I main Ambra on XB1, hopefully we run into eachother lol

There is no reason to pick Ambra instead of Miko.

I see plenty of reason, I don’t get kills with Miko. Ambra controls large areas and is great on the move, I play her with most focus on skill damage and helix for her solar wind. It wrecks people if you catch them at the right time. Including chasing down fleeing Galilea’s. Miko can’t do that.

Funniest Ambra time is when a Galilea sees you. Tha player will chase you across the map and then some trying to get their 25 Ambra kills lore challenge.

I only have two issues with Ambra at this point.

  1. The range of the heal beam needs to go back to its original state. Nerfing both its damage and its range so severely have left it feeling awkward and difficult to use.

  2. Is the time delay on her ult really necessary? It’s far from the highest damage dealing ability, so I’m not entirely sure why it needs both a large visual marker and a significant time delay.

I’m ok with the ult delay because it is pretty significant and the cast time is fast. I usually spec for more DOT and use it as a dash and drop on enemy sentry. If you have the stun on it then it has so much killing potential it deserves a delay.

The beam I’ll agree with you. What is strange is it seems like you have to be closer to get the lock on than you do to keep it going - in other words I can keep beaming someone from farther away than it takes to first get it to hit them. Not by much but a little bit, so I work around it by dipping in close then stepping back and side stepping as it burns them.
