Ambra needs buffs

The range and damage from the beam are a joke. But to add insult to injury, I have to get up close to the people I’m healing with the beam which means that I run the risk of blocking their exit if they suddenly turn around and flee for cover.

Have you tried using solar wind to push them into it? Works better than the slow ever did

That’s what I’ve been doing I used to combo the two I’d push them further into the slow for even more damage.

I think that’s actually a good idea. So the farther away they are the less damage the beam does. So you could still lock on but it wouldn’t be life threatening at greater distances and she couldn’t keep herself alive either. So to make the beam more effective you’d be forced to get in close. Any comments on this @Jythri ?

I really like that idea. It makes her beam much better without actually causing it to be over powered. I hate it when I “miss” with the beam and constantly have to reactivate it because they moved one inch from me. It feels so clunky. Sometimes I wonder what my teammates are thinking when they see me with my staff outstretched trying to kill a player but nothing’s happening.

Oh man yeah I forgot about the awful effect the range thing has on healing. Trying to heal your own frigging Thorn during a firefight… nightmares

Lol healing thorn I think that’s a horror for everyone since she’s usually going turbo mode

Whenever I play thorn I’m pretty much running and casting the entire time

Something I saw on IGN.

My suggestions:

  • Rewrite Solar Wind entirely. Instead of attempting to run it as a pure DPS skill, give it knockback from the start. Make the helix options bonus Heat generation or the ability to “feed” a Sunspot with Wind, detonating it for AoE damage. I’m thinking 240-300 plus maybe 60-80 DoT as she’s spending both cooldowns for this.

  • Restore Ambra’s primary range. One of her primary functions is a chaser - she can follow and kill low health heros very easily and then get away with HP regen + flame shield.

  • Allow her to spend Heat to heal allies instead of her own health. This allows her versatility in managing her resources and removes some of her reliance on Sunspot, which is easily slain. Since all the other healers have heal abilities that aren’t tied to cooldowns, I believe this is fair.

i’ve recently been using ambra and i’m in love! although she was nerfed, i’ve learned really well how to use her most efficiently in pvp. so if ambra were reworked/buffed, i think i’d be obsessed!

i don’t know if this would be good idea. i’m really content with her now because i really appreciate people not screaming she’s OP. i’m afraid these reworks will bring back the same comments.

I get what you mean but I think what the guy was trying to say was that gearbox is having trouble deciding if she is good at health or attacking and they can’t find a balance so they super nerfed her and now it’s pointless to take her most of the time. She’s a target. Gonna heal; play miko. Gonna slightly heal and stay alive forever while attacking; play Alani. This guys suggest that the make her a healer with the ability to hunt down weak players and keep up with the chase.

I hate chasing a player with 10% health and he gets away or if Alani; turn around and kill you while I have 50-60 health.

Best case scenario. Buff her slowly and see what we get.

i totally agree!

They just need to make her a good support again and not some turbo nerfed sacrificial goat for Galilea and alani

As a person who put a good amount of time playing Ambra in both the beta and the full game I will say this. On a base level when starting a match with only helix level one mods up and no gear just about any other support can out preform her in every aspect from self sustainability to damage output.

Her life steal is weaker then Rath’s and with the nurfs made to her Staff or Radiance’s range she has to play in Melee range to use here staff at all effectively. This would be less of an issue if it had a better time tracking opponent’s when she aimed at them directly vs her just holding staff out and running at face :stuck_out_tongue:

Her Sunspots function as a decent option to help do damage and heal Ambra and others but they are to fragile to be effective as a group healing tool and doing damage at the same time without helix mods. It makes here early game really tough as placing Sunspots correctly can be the difference in thousends of damage and healling. Once you have verying helix mods Sunspots function as a potent avinue of doing both damage and healling at the same time while giving your more leniency. On the topic of early game I think they work ok for the level of difficulty she is listed as, that difficulty being (Complex)

Solar wind functions just fine imo its damage is modest for the amount of Heat it generates allowing more damage output and it functions as a potent utility with later helix mods. On the topic of early game it works just fine.

Here level of servivability is modist if not a little low as if she finds herself in danager at the start of a match here Fire Shield seems to disappear in a single hit no matter what and here hp has to fall yo 20% for that to happen in short it helps in a jam for her but dose nothing to aid her team or healing and is imo one of the weakest points of here character as it tries to encorage you to play in melee but dose not reward you with the same results othere can acomplish in the same position.

All and all I personally think here Staff is what needs some attention right now it if it is going to have melee range beam it needs the kind of damage a melee character can pull out, given the fact that it can not crit it needs a higher base to stay compeditve, her life steal should remain where it is or be brough down. With here Staffs damage going up she will get more hp from the same % of life steal.

I love how she playes its just a matter of she under preformes until you get helix mods up and there is little you can do about it. God help you if you pick a bad helix by mistake :stuck_out_tongue:

Hope she gets some attention soon or elese she may start to lose more representation in game.

I think she does need a buff ppl complaint cuz she’s not a full support but the reality is neither is Miko nor Alani they both can figh and get there kills compare to ambra now knowing her heal were never the best and now she does way to low dmg compare to even the other healer that have range to there attacks while ambra is right on front of the enemies faces

team ambra! she really does need to be reworked /or buffed. i think it’s only fair if she’s gonna be the target for a lore challenge of two very strong characters.

increasing her damage would be good enough imo. i’ve been playing her very frequently and have noticed i tend to get bullied/jumped by alani and galilea, and i feel hopeless.

What most of the problem is a lot of ppl are quick to scream op just cuz they can kill a character quick enough regardless of what’s going on right now the same thing is happening with elani and to be honest I’m agains it is ok she got a healt cut but they also want to lower her dps and healing so I don’t really understand ppl they just want to fight against characters that would just die on one hit?

totally agree! unfortunately now we’re in a situation where ambra is underpowered.

anyways, off topic, but is ambra solable through story missions because i’m trying to finish up her lore and pvp ain’t cutting it.
