Ambra Support - Better than you think!

Okay, after finally getting my Master of Ambra title and winning five games in a row this morning, I’m feeling better. Ambra actually CAN be played as great support, if your team knows how to work with you. Fortunately for me my best friend loves playing with me, and loves Attikus. We kick so much ass. Rolling with the blissbeast hide legendary and some extra health and more damage reduction on top of that. It’s a good thing.

Have to play it safe early in the match, but it’s totally doable. People just need to realize that Ambra isn’t a mobile healer like Miko, she’s a duck around cover and top you off healer. It’s more versatile, I think, especially if you like to focus on building and objectives.

She’s a healer that heals you when you aren’t in dire need of it. That’s her issue. She can’t leash and she can’t heal effectively in a crowd. Sure, you can play her as a support, but it isn’t the most effective use of her kit.

In your opinion, what is?

You are wrong. Only because once you get to level 12 she can heal her sunspots and heal multiple people constantly and damage enimies!!! So good! As long as they are not getting attacked one can target MANY allies and enemies and you can still keep up healing. I even had both out targeting people and keeping them up! Only problem is her sunspots are sooooo squishy but in campaign at least it is not bad at all! I have not tried pvp yet.

I have that mutation and almost never use it. Healing a sunspot for damage is not nearly as effective as damaging an enemy yourself while the sunspot applies its own damage. In groups, you can’t heal the sunspot nearly as fast as it will run out. The only real use it has is healing allies slightly faster between battles.

She isn’t necessarily a “bad” support. She just doesn’t excel at the role like Miko or Reyna. Her damage output is unusually high for a support, and that’s the only thing keeping her relevant right now. Though with the latest nerf, I’m not sure there’s anything she can do that another character can’t do better.

In groups if you keep the sunspot up then it will do more damage. Sunspots do half your beam damage but multiplied through many enimies it is great. If there is only a few then you can heal the sunspot in a few seconds and go back to doing extra damage with other attacks.

With the radius and health mutations, yeah, this is actually pretty viable. It’s especially great in PVE, like, you have no idea. We beat Saboteur on advanced and got a silver medal because of this mutation. Nothing got past me and everything that fought around my sunspots was shredded by my melee DPS allies.

Ambra is awesome, IF your team knows how to work with her.

Sadly I did not have the heal sunspots ability when I beat Sabatour on advanced. I played as Ambra and I know it would have come in handy lol

Wow, stealthbrag much? Lol. Actually there was nothing stealthy about that at all. You’re funny. IT’S NOT A CONTEST.

Oh I am sure I got carried. I just basically kept putting my sunspots right at the opening of the core or up on the ledge to heal teammate. I got them to a 9 sec cool down so I just kept spamming them.

I was just teasing. Yeah, well, that’s what support classes do, when you think about it. Get carried. It’s like a piggy-back ride, wheee!

She’s still very good after last nerf. It changed how she has to be played, but not what she’s capable of.

As for support…yes, you cannot sustain your team mates for as long as Miko would, but there are more ways to win a fight, than just brute-forcing and trying to out heal enemy dps on your tank. Ambra support gives you a lot of flexibility, you can preset your sunspots on retreat paths, drop one more into fight if needed (those can buff your teams damage as well if you choose to), but in the mean time - you are free to look for opportunities to how to harm enemies most. Also, you have this neat little trick you can use against teams with a lot of melee - solar wind push back. This have saved so many teammates when they get rushed by melees. And finally, it’s just so satisfying, to flank enemies close to their choke point and put a meteor just behind them when they are focusing on fighting your team in front :P.

This guy knows what’s up. People are so obsessed with tank and spank facerolling, they never think tactically.

Agree on Radiant Gale pushing back foes that are melee/tanks (saved myself and other teamates this way), or push range snipers and weak players into my ally’s or minion’s range of attack. You can also drop an Extinction Event and then push enemies inside the AOE dealing damage from Solar Wind AND Extinction Event. I believe it helps with crowd control very well. Plus it makes it difficult for an enemy like Thorn and Marquis to aim well when flying around.
