Yeah, I’ve only ever had maybe three Ambras consistently be a pain in games. Don’t think I’ve ever encountered a Kleese that gave me much trouble aside from maybe a random arc-taser killing me. Kleese gets bodied by anyone with a gun. The auto-aim attacks are annoying, but Kleese’s can’t last forever, and Ambra’s does really slow damage. It’s just a matter of knowing when to pick your fights (which can be said for most of the cast).
I wouldn’t really consider either of them to be in a bad spot, either too strong or too weak.
Only time I get killed by kleese is when they are being super annoying and camping up a storm (which is the play style anyway) or when I’m over extended. All you gotta do is have some damage reduction gear and your good especially if you are a melee attacker.
The reason they are in a bad spot is they have good damage output, good to great survivability, and ARE TEAM SUPPORT. Reyna doesn’t have that kind of damage nor does KU, Miko, or Alani. They are too good at too many roles on a team and that is why they are broken.
What kind of match is it? Was it an incursion or meltdown where they do a little bit of damage to every minion? Do you think that KU felt like he needed to add close to 20% attack damage because he felt like he was already doing good damage? Do you think the ability to self heal and stay in the lane longer could actually equate to doing more damage over the course of the match? Do you have recency bias?
Yea ambra and kleese can hold there own but if your an attacker and running away from a 1v1 fight against a ambra or kleese, it’s sounds like a case of the old ambra and kleese phobia.
It was meltdown, KU doesn’t need any items to deal massive damage, any good team comp has at least 1 healer and this was on Coldsnap so you have access to 2 healing stations on either side anyway and this was probably before the KU Bola bounce nerf.
That image doesn’t prove anything. KU has splash damage on his basic attack, so naturally he deals a lot of total damage. If Alani has the level 4 mutation she essentially has an AoE DoT that is devastating against minions, and then there’s her ult which does impact damage followed by DoT. And finally, as VeganCookies suggested, both characters have the ability to self-heal regularly meaning they can stay in lane longer than most. Damage dealt isn’t an indicator of anything other than focusing the objective and damaging a lot of minions, it’s not a reliable stat to use as a reference. Naturally, character with splash damage and AoE DoT will deal more total damage than others.
I wouldn’t say Kid Ultra does massive damage, remember he splashes. Yes, it’s true a KU will usually have highest damage dealt, but that’s only going to be true if he was using his basic attack to splash the waves.
It’s not nearly as damaging to battleborn unless the entire triple shot hits or he has a couple damage amps up.
The argument was that KU and Alani don’t have good damage. This is pretty clearly incorrect. If you can say “splash damage and damage from helixes don’t count”, then I can say “Kleese’s rift network and Ambra’s ult don’t count”.
No, it’s not. I could share a screenshot of a match earlier today where I got over 200k damage dealt with Whiskey Foxtrot, that doesn’t mean a thing. If you want to test a character’s damage, do it in a private match and measure their DPS, anything else is irrelevant and mostly circumstantial. I could just as easily have a terrible game as Orendi then share a screenshot and say “Orendi doesn’t deal enough damage” but we all know that that’s not true. “Good damage” is a pretty broad term to use here.
I didn’t say that, I pointed out that those are contributing factors.
When you splash a minion wave the attack does normal damage to both the target and all surrounding enemies. When you hit a lone battleborn it hits just for the attack. If you compare just the base damage, without the extra being done by surrounding it’s not that high.
The characters are different in their own aspect. Doing that much damage with Alani or KU is just them doing their job as wave clearers. So the stat is very relevant… unless we are talking about total dps that 1 character can do vs 1 target. Ambra may do more damage but can’t self sustain like the way Alani can. This means if an ambra went against an attacker, they can make easier work out of her faster than fighting an Alani which will take longer.
Didn’t really read everything but if I missed the point & your talking about something else, then sorry about that.
FYI- the stats in the photo aren’t from Random pub matches but from experienced players on pc
Dude, ambra sustains BETTER than alani, low cooldown spam, heat meter EXTREMELY easy to refill, sunspot heals chunk of health even when you destroy it, and overshield, good lifesteal, and insanely fast
I really wanna know what ambra’s your fighting. Tell them to please add me on steam- RedX801
I could understand the extra speed burst and overshield when she is low… she is a support and deserves an escape. I could take on ambras with Reyna :-/
Alani can self sustain way better in my opinion actually. Everyone’s experiences vary
Edit:: not to make it sound like ambra is bad. She is really good but far from needing re-works from being too good
Ambra has a big crit zone and need to get close (in a team of Ranged chsracters she dosent have enough back up). Preasure ambra and focuse her sunspot and she is usless healer.
You dont need to kill her… Just push her away and if she is stupid she will come back before her overshield cd is over.
There are too many variables to consider, and more than I care to list here. It’s a fun stat to look at, but never important enough to determine the outcome of a match or really anything at all, you can have high damage dealt and still have a low minion count, or vice versa.
That. Most people who die to Ambra died because they chased her and she setup with a Sunspot. She’s one of the most dangerous characters to chase but there’s never a need to secure the kill, if she’s out of lane she’s not influencing the match at that time and all you have to do is keep kicking her out, if you’re dying because you’re greedy that’s not a reflection of whether or not the opposing character is too strong as opposed to the other player being better than you.
I don’t think Ambra is overpowered. I think she is in a similar spot as Orendi in that she needs a few small tweaks and she’ll be balanced. Removing the sprint bug is the biggest change she needs right now.
I think Kid Ultra is also close to being balanced as well after the recent nerfs he received. Reducing the stun to 1 second and increasing his drones’ health would put him closer to where he needs to be. The damage of the bleed can be nerfed later if his bolas still continue to be a problem.
