There’s really no place to ask this so I thought this would be the best place.
When I purchased my Shield TV Borderlands Pre Sequel had a July 1st release date for it.
It still said coming soon.
After scrounging about the Nvidia forums, they stated the release was pushed back to September 1st in some parts, contact Gearbox in others.
It still said coming soon.
Now Nvidia is unofficially saying October 1st in some parts, contact Gearbox in others.
Is there any truth to that and if not is there at least a ballpark idea WHEN we Shield people will be getting the game we were told was launching with the system?
And if its not too much to ask, is there somewhere to go for updates as not to just be left hanging out in the cold? Its a tad bit frustrating.
Thanks in advance.
I haven’t seen any gbx staff comment on this, I’ll give then a nudge from back here.
Hey @Tobalaz – I’ll look into this for you. Can you point me to the places where you’re seeing October 1 or being told to contact Gearbox for a release date?
Any news of an Android release date for BL:TPS? July 1 was the last posted date of release I recall seeing (Best Buy and Nvidia) A little disheartening that 4 months after purchase of my device bundle (Shield Android TV pro w/ Borderlands bundled), this still isn’t available. Has this been canceled?
@Jeffybug, @Psychichazard: So almost a month without any updates from either of you? Should we be worried? Even a speculative release date would be something. I’m not all that concerned about the reasons behind the delays. These things happen. Thanks!
@Jeffybug - The release date was posted on Nvidia site, it went from July 1, to Sept 1, to Oct 1 and Nvidia has stated that they are unable to comment on the release dates of 3rd party developers.
Gearbox is the developer of the game and should provide an estimated date that the game will be released or contact Nvidia as to the state of game development so that they can relay the information to their customers.
As of now, customers have been left waiting in limbo thinking the game will be released on a certain date only to have that date pushed back again and again. Any information right now, whether it be good or bad, would be appreciated and is better than not knowing what is happening.
It sounds like there has been a mix up of information somewhere here. The Android port is actually being developed/in the hands of our partners at NVIDIA. The NVIDIA team has always been a great partner with us and we’re excited to see what they do with the port!
I’ll see if I can track down any more info on a release date, but typically if they don’t have any information to share with you all, then they won’t have anything for me to share either.
Thanks for the response. I don’t know if there is a mix up or not, all I do know is that Nvidia has stated that they don’t comment on 3rd party developers apps. And when you go to the Borderlands: TPS page for Nvidia it list the developer as Gearbox Software.
If you can find out any information I know it would be greatly appreciated by many Nvidia Shield ATV owns.
Thanks.
Totally feel your frustrations! It’s strange that we’re listed as the developer there as I can assure you that no development work on the Android port is being completed by Gearbox.
That sounds like the same thing I heard when I called Nvidia, they said it’s the developers who dictate the release date. But if Gearbox isn’t responsible and nvidia is, then nvidia needs to stop kicking the can down the road and get with it. I bought the shield tv based on the apparent bate they hung with the pre-sequel, RE5 and BL2. Forgive my language but it’s kind of ■■■■■■■ ■■■■■■■■ to sucker people in with the promise of a steak and then once you got them, feed them dogshit. Maybe Gearbox would be better off cutting ties with lying ■■■■■■■■
Please don’t discuss gearbox’s partners in such terms. Please read the forum rules.
Thanks.
The following article seems to support the notion that the port is in nvidia’s hands:
I know this is an old thread but it seems relevant.
So, the Pre-Sequel is live for Nvidia Shield TV owners finally, and I love playing it. It’s fast and smooth on the Shield as expected.
Under normal conditions, everything is great, but I’m a little disappointed that apparently the whole game is tied to the Cloud save feature, and you aren’t given any option to save games locally.
As I said, under normal conditions this isn’t an issue, but if you cannot connect to wifi for whatever reason, you can’t play at all. A real bummer if you travel for work and find yourself stuck somewhere for two weeks with no wifi.
