Another thing I have pondered....Ernest and the Veil Breaker Legendary

The Veil Breaker has Reload, Shield Pen and the last bonus is:
“The last round in a Magazine prevents an enemy shield from recharging for 10 seconds”

with Ernst…holding down the trigger constantly when the mag is empty will continuously reload and fire two grenades…then reload two more and fire them emptying the magazine again. And again and again, it constantly repeats.

Would that second grenade of each abbreviated reload be considered “the last round in a magazine” for that bonus in the Veil Breaker?

If so…with Ernest…you can quickly get a LOT of enemy shields to stop recharging with the Veil Breaker.

10 seconds is like an eternity.

Oh and does Ernest get any benefit from Shield Penetration? Does his Grenade Launcher work with Shield Pen??

Great idea! Let’s be glad no one thought of this before the Benedict change. It should work, I wouldn’t see why not. And shield pen affects everything.

I can actually see this not working. If it acts anything like Vyns Quiver does on benny.
Its passive is a health regen of 4.2 if i remember correctly and increases when you reload before emptying the clip. On benny it just stays at the base of 4.2 since its technically not a magazine.

Alternatively, it could be that Benedict and Ernest each have a magazine of size 1, and every “round” is the last round. Would need to be tested to confirm.

Depends on whether or not the proc is actually worth. You reload fast enough to make it not worth.

The abbreviated reload happens within about .5 seconds…

I hit another enemy with two grenades and the second one procs the 10 delay on the second enemy.

With a chain going I could possibly have 2-4 enemies with LONG shield delays

Something like during a push and all of a sudden…their shields aren’t recharging at a critical time.

10 seconds is a long time in this game.

Potentially but the need for such a thing to happen isn’t actually all that common. Which was what I was eluding to. It’s a very hard thing to even tell whether or not it has significantly impacted the match.

This. I would expect these types of effects to not work at all on Benedict or Ernest, specifically because they do not do a full reload each time you hit the reload button.

Only way to find out is to test it on a live target.

Oh, GOD… I sure HOPE that isn’t possible, or i’ll have to take to the streets, running wildly around screaming “WE DIDN’T LISTEN!!” at the top of my lungs.

do a private match with a friend is the best way I could think of, shoot them once before activating and time the recharge delay…then fire again after activating
