I was transferring stuff between characters on ps3, then sending them back to ps4. At some point I got this message when trying to start the game up on ps3.
Hmmmm…experience beyond level 70?! Additional content that raises level cap?! Is this message an error/typo?
Aside from the level 70 thing, do you have the full game (all DLCs) on both platforms?
Not sure then. You could check the PS3 and and PS4 tech support categories to see if someone has had the same issue. The only other thing I can think of is if you were transferring the character multiple times between the two, since IIRC you’re only supposed to be able to do the transfer once? Hopefully someone can correct me if I’m wrong (it happens!)
Lol it wasn’t an issue or anything but that might explain it. I obviously sent them over when I first got HC, and now sending them back to switch around gear makes it more than once. Could be that I guess.
Edit: Only thing it says in the notes is that only one save can be transferred at a time, and that: “The PlayStation family of systems can upload / download saves from any system to any other PlayStation system. Think of PS3 / PS4 / PSV as a triangle, and saves can move in any direction (Vita saves are only applicable to BL2 and not BL:TPS).”
so now I really don’t know lol
I’ve seen it once in both games I think, still had all my weapons and DLC’s. Not sure why it popped up.
Due to my experience with, “that of which we do not speak”… Wink. I do know what that message means. It means that the XP of the character exceeds the level 70 value. The game assumes that future dlc may raise the cap & thus the notice. This leads me to believe that the actual number threshold for lvl 70 is a slightly different number on the different systems.
Or the save your using is modified, poorly.
I don’t edit my saves. Never have, never will. Someone pm’d me saying the same thing.
The only other thing I can think of is if you’d played co-op with someone who’d dropped you a modded item, and you hadn’t noticed that the card wasn’t completely kosher.
Oh for the love of…no I only co-op with one person on this game, my good friend IRL. No modded gear.
A modded item won’t cause this problem. It’s an issue with the level of the character. The game sees an exp number higher than that of level 70. Whether it’s just one digit off or a million digits off.
Without modding of any kind, the only explanation is that the exp value threshold for level 70 is not the same number on the two systems.
I wonder how the level thresholds are set up within the game? If there’s a look-up table of level-XP pairs, then there shouldn’t be any difference at all. If the XP threshold is calculated from the level using a formula, though, I can see a rounding error causing a difference between the systems of 1, which would be enough to trigger the dialogue.
And @jhunter922, sorry if you were upset by my question, but it’s not unknown to end up with dodgy stuff if you have your game open to randoms.
