Peopje seem to have very differing opinions on the size of the player base right now.

I chatted with 3 or 4 different groups of people I teamed up with on mic over the weekend about how many new players we had all seen recently.

I got the impression maybe the player base was starting to bounce back…

For as long as the game doesn’t provide green bar games to non-US players, I can promise you that the international playerbase is shrinking steadily with no hope for recovery. I wouldn’t discount that the US playerbase might pick up a little.

Yay! I was really worried I wasn’t making sense… I just wanted people to understand the real potential I saw in it. I know people such as your self made a wide birth of the que because of Benedict but I don’t really remember dying from hawkeye maybe more than 3 times this weekend when I was playing marquis. It made me pleasantly surprised that what’s considered to be a generally weaker character imo was absolutely flourishing in this game mode.

I am not super upset about the que meshing but am a little concerned about it driving players away. I hope gearbox can expand more on what I will refer to as the “limited” que and make it less gimmicky and more about 5 interesting character interaction picks.

Off the top of my head I think a good mix would be all faction leaders. All melee picks(let’s see Attikus REALLY shine!) maybe some grrrl power type of thing… Will keep thinking of fun groupings

It wasn’t just my dislike for Benedict, but also that I don’t enjoy playing the characters that were on offer. This is my Mellka simulator, damn it! A battlefield entirely empty of the sound of joyful jakoos… My heart breaks.

@FlamesForAll The solution to international woes is simple enough - console matchmaking needs to become region sensitive. It needs to know that you can’t put Australians and Japanese players in a match with West Coast US players. This will never happen, Gearbox have already said they don’t have the ability to overhaul the MM code. So there is in fact no solution, and there will be only US players left within six months or so.

I can’t think of a silver lining. :frowning:

They have never been specific as to why they can’t redo matchmaking and improve its known weaknesses: only said that they’d like to, but that it’s not possible right now.

I suspect it’s because they have very few testing and troubleshooting staff (and time, and resources), and if they mess with the net code, they risk breaking their game. Remember, we’ve gone two months with PVE scoring fundamentally broken. To safely change matchmaking, GBX would need months of coding and testing that they cannot afford. I suspect many of the original net coders are now on Borderlands 3 too.

I know I know… I love all the roster personally. Why I don’t mind (and want to see more of) the bird hunt type of que. I think the faction leader one would be decently balanced. And you would get to play melka too!

Agree. Kelvin + Kleese simply has NOT been explored enough! Reyna and Mellka do well together, why not them together ever! (Seriously her CC cleanse can save Mellka from the only reason she should ever die, which I’m saying for the benefit of… not you)

Stun is a death sentence if you were a good enough Mellka to draw their attention. After playing her I can land shield throws on her about half the time and that Mohawk disappears in seconds

And I don’t think any 1 character gets too shafted that way. Could be that Mel might be a little up in that particular group but I don’t think stacking any 1 type of character would be auto win

That the particular group of picks (faction leaders) are relatively balanced in comparison to the bird hunt picks. Melka may be the only weakfish pick since most characters can have something good against her in that group. I also think that stacking one of the characters in that group doesn’t make it an auto win unlike bird hunt imo

She, deande, kleese, and Ghalt speak for their factions throughout the story missions and are all the most communicative and, to be honest, more normal. Reyna would be a part too, BUT APPARENTLY NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE ROGUES
