the problem with overwatch is the hype, and the “cognitive disonance” that it provoques on fanboys: to clarify, overwatch is a good game, not as good as people think (IMO), but “blizzard trademark” is very strong, and once people got a big hype, most of them will not change their opinion, even, if OW demostrate that is not good as expected.
So i don’t think new content can change “that” peoples mind.
I think BB is deeper and got more content, is better than OW, but yes, needs some love, not to “compete” with OW, but to maintain a playerbase and gradually increase it from people that quits from OW or looks for something new.
Character design are a must; actually there are only colour schemes as skins, matchmaking needs a serious rework and, maybe, some more battleborns.
A combo that only works on the up close non-mobile characters. Any character with a dash or any sort of movement ability can get out of his upthrow easily, with him waisting his ult.
Not true it stuns and silences you most of the time its impossible to get out until the last second when your health is almost nothing. As much as this conversation is fun to have, I would prefer that we did it on another thread or pms so we can keep this thread for what its for. pls and thank you.
Gearbox already have said it is in development. I expect Gearbox were prepared for the case where Battleborn does not turn out as well as hoped. Lets just hope there is still enough cash available to make a great Borderlands 3!
Ik they said Development for BL3 would be in full effect after battleborn launch with that said Gearbox doesn’t worry me at all unless they outsource again like they did with TPS
Yup, they have been very open about the cycle so far
They told us they were making it
Then they told us they were hiring for it
Then they told us they started it
Then they told us they left pre production and entered production.
I expect that Borderlands 3 would have been in full development for a while now. It is unlikely they would say that though prior to the launch of a new game to save from drawing attention to it and away from Battleborn.
Also, just an observation during the open beta a week ago, but first 2-3 days of it tons of people on my friends list were playing it. The last 2-3 days of the beta though it was pretty barren, maybe 1-2 people playing it out of like 30 people on my list.
I don’t think it’s as addictive/fun as many people thought it would be.
I’m worried too Jack, especially with Overwatch coming. I feel GBX is taking some huge risks with running Battleborn in this arguably unpolished state. I feel GBX is taking huge risks at potentially burning out players as well as not sucking in a bigger player base with problems such as matchmaking and huge game flaws like marquis sentry sniping, and imbalanced characters.
I really love this game and it at times makes me anxious seeing it having to face such other games when this game is great but overshadowed simply by marketing by things like overwatch.
I was worried day one when I noticed me and my bro where the only people playing it on our friend lists and still are, can’t seem to persuade our regular party to buy it either, regardless I’ll still be playing for some time
The reason why Galilea is op is because she can attack while sprinting and has a silence that last as long as the aoe on the ground which no other character has. At the longest most cc in this game lasts for 3 second, her Aoe can be on the ground for 8 seconds(can be upgraded to 11) which means if you body block or force a character in the aoe the silence last for 11 secs. Name one game that has an 11 second crowd control.
Personally I’m not too worried about Overwatch. I tried the beta at least and wasn’t all that interested. While there are a variety of characters there’s no character development in game or out. Battleborn has gear and helix mutation while I only saw emotes and skins in Overwatch.
That didn’t appeal to me as long term entertainment and feel I would get bored quickly. Not to mention battleborn has three competitive modes and a single player mode, all of which feel different. Whereas in Overwatch all I saw was gameplay modes that introduced a few different game mechanics but we’re otherwise the same feel.
Oh. Man. Didn’t expect to see this topic again. Shock and awe indeed. What next, accusations of a perfectly balanced character being OP for being good at their niche? Oh wait…
Dude, I still play Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer with randoms and friends. This game will be fine. LoL numbers or Esports recognition isn’t needed for a game to have a strong community and be fun.
God yes!!! Thanks for the MassEffect-3-argument here!!! My fiance still plays it, and the playerbase seems vivid as back in the days of N7-day challanges
Also, I don’t think large numbers are needed for an e-sport, right? It would be a small contest, but it would get some people interested. I think this game will grow bigger with age.
