Australian Servers Issues (Post Your Data Here)

NOPE

I’m not from AUS but we SEA players are in the same situation as you guys. I just gave up on getting 2-3 bar games and just play on US/EU servers with red ping. I feel like less than 50 people own the game in Asia.

Please let me explain again.

This game don’t have any public server for game play. ( At least PS4 )

It just have some servers for Matchmaking and Player Database.

When you start a PVP match or co-op, system will choose one player for game hosting.

If system choose Australian Players to be a host, you connection will be good.

If system choose US/Europe Players, then you connection will be ā– ā– ā– ā– .

All US/Europe Player. So, my connection in RED bar.

My Teammate is US/Europe Player, enemy team are Asia/Australian Player. It seems the system choose Asia/Australian Player for host. So, i can get GREEN bar.

As last result, the multi-play Battleborn seems not connect to public server.

It should be connect to host (One of Player in the match), like a star-chart connection.

As i known, COD:MW have used this connection for game hosting before.

Public Server Connection? Like Battlefield.

On this case, i think Gearbox need to add some rule on the Matchmaking.

Likes " Search the nearest country player in first priority ".

However, Battleborn need to spent 20-30 mins for each match and don’t have too much player such as COD.

So, if they add this rule on the Matchmaking Server.

Players need to spent more and more times in Matchmaking.

Battleborn is not peer to peer hosting. You can tell this because you get lag playing solo and anyone can leave the match without the server needing to migrate.

Also it’s been officially said at some point that the game has a Sydney server, and I believe it.

My lag last night was pretty good. Some can attest to my ability to leap around an entire enemy team like a maniac

It’s kind of funny how this thread has turned into a place to share our hilariously bad experiences lol.

I got booted so ****ing hard by the servers last night that it wouldn’t let me play until I had an active PSN connection. My PSN and Internet connection were fine. It took me about an hour, several console and WiFi router resets, and re-entering my network settings manually before it would recognise my PSN connection. That was fun.

I had the same issue. I think it was PSN being silly buggers.

Really? I double and triple checked psn  it seemed to be working. Maybe I was mistaken…

Forgive me Australian servers, there’s no reason I should have doubted you!

…oh wait lol

I do own OW, but I enjoy both games for different reasons.
Sure it’s nice to not have to deal with rubberbanding and constant input lag; but BB is still my preferred game.

As to the Moderator here, last dev update was over a week ago I believe. A week is a long time in meatspace, a month is even longer. There isn’t even word on if they know what the problem is, let alone working on a fix. All I am doing is chasing up any progress that may be made and keeping this thread relevant and bumped for the Australian audience. (Disregarding posts and threats about leaving for OW, ofcourse.)

There is still a lot of us on Xbox, most of our games last night had atleast half red/yellow ping players if not more occasionally. The sooner this gets sorted the sooner we can actually enjoy this game properly with everyone else.

I have such a love/hate relationship with this game now…

I really do love everything about it, the story, the characters, the modes, I think it’s great…
But the constant disconnects, the lag, the wait times in queues, I just can’t…

To spend so long in the queue, only to have it end in disconnect, or an early surrender, leaves me really disheartened… We are talking 25 minute plus queues, VS 5 minute games…

Im sitting in queue longer than I’m actually playing…

I’m a pretty positive person, happy go lucky…
But mentally it’s leaving me very negative and I’m becoming quite the complainer…

I don’t really want to… But I might have to step away from Battleborn…
At least PvP…
I might still give private PvE a go (not riddled with as many problems, as above)…

And I’m not sure I can justify buying a season pass at this stage due to the above…
I’m not sure it would be a wise investment, given that things seem to be continuing to decline…

I also play a lot of split screen co-op, which means half the screen size…
And I’m not sure I can justify paying for 2 season passes, when we spend half our time frustrated and squinting at the poorly designed (sorry) split screen, screen…

I love you gearbox, and I will continue to support you…
But I want to be singing praises, not the negativity above…
I just need to step away, and reevaluate my own perspective as a gamer.

The XNA Framework can automatically handles host migration.

Anyway, this post is not discussing any new Network Technology or Network Topologies.

If Battleborn is using pubilc server, not any PTP Hosting.

Then, the connection problem seems caused by the Matchmaking.

All players just group in a pool and searching. Server haven’t do any sorting of player location.

Battleborn released 3 weeks ago. The connection problem is still here.

I don’t think this is reasonable.

With red bar I’m still having fun destroying people (I’m rath btw)

Oh we can still dominate with red bar, but that’s hardly the point.
Whether it’s not being able to run away because your rubberbanding and moving half your normal speed or failing to escape because you used a dash away only to be yanked back 10 metres because their Montana dashed you and on his screen your still in place, stunned. Securing kills typically isn’t the issue, although input lag compunded with game delay makes some skill shots extremely difficult to land.

Usually the lag manifests itself worst in movement abilities (like simply running/jumping) and enemy abilities and bullets connecting when they simply shouldn’t (the amount of walls I have died behind is too many to count).

I have 70hrs in this game thus far and the lag is the ONLY thing that is stopping my mates and I from enjoying this game. As said above, it’s a love/hate relationship.

playing under lag is still playing.
some of us cant even get into the game.
title screen, error, command centre, error, matchmaking ,error
meh

It’s reached a point where if I’ve only got two hours spare, it’s not enough time to bother playing. 30 minute PvP and 45(ish) minute PvE matches aren’t achievable in that time frame with all the server error messages. It can take me up to 15 minutes alone just to sell a handful of unwanted gear!

I wouldn’t apologise. Honestly, who thought that layout was ok and gave it the green light?? I’m flabbergasted at how bad a design choice that was.

I haven’t played at all today, my first time since full release with no Battleborn fix… It feels… Strange…

I have however been watching someone else play, while I do other things like bake cheesecake (mmm, eat my emotions)…

Queue times, disconnects, lags still insue… Despite the official Battleborn Twitter saying they made improvements to matchmaking queue times today… No, not what I’ve seen/heard…

Sigh… But at least I have cheesecake.

I haven’t seen a difference in matchmaking either. I don’t really take notice of matchmaking issues on my end though. I’d be happy enough to just browse my command menu without and hiccups. Every mission and match ends the same way too…

failed to retrieve match history>sent back to title menu>5-10 failure/error messages>menu screen>match history>failure to retrieve match history>menu screen…

I have to allow a good half an hour after every mission or match to actually retrieve my match stats to review how I went, and then check out any new gear and sell whatever I don’t want.

If I’ve managed to get to point of waiting on matchmaking then I’m already doing well. Every time I get a full 9 other people connected and it tries to connect me the character select screen I will get DC’d and have to rejoin the active game. I’m almost always the last person to pick their character and a few times my team mates have DC’d as soon as they see I’m gone. They don’t even wait for me to reconnect.

So yeah, matchmaking is the least of my worries and I wouldn’t even notice if they fixed it amongst everything else going (wr)on(g)! :worried:

But hey, cheesecake! Noice. What flavour did you make?

It was getting to the point I’d just play a losing game, even getting stomped, begging no one to surrender (but it would usually end that way - or in disconnect), just to play a game, as it was better than not playing one at all… But I could only take so much…

Thankfully I wasn’t having the issues you were having with PvE, that actually worked for me, though with occasional glitch running, and yes I too had the lag of selling items to follow…

I’m sure I’ll try again after the weekend, the whole love/hate thing will have me coming back, but I just need some stress free me time, that doesn’t involve getting worked up over ā€˜just a game’… Silly me, haha.

And I made a classic New York baked cheesecake

I just remembered that I’ve actually been avoiding pvp for the last 3-4 days now so I definitely wouldn’t be noticing any changes LOL. I very quickly got over every match feeling like I was at the local pool with Alani spam everywhere

I understand needing to take a break though. I spend more time on here talking about the game than playing it just because it can be a drama at the moment! I’ll do some pve runs with you when you come back :acmaffirmative:

I really hope that Gearbox can get all of these issues resolved. I’ve met a lot of cool people from Australia during my lifetime and I’d love to keep meeting more of them. It’s nice to see some of you sticking it out through all of this such as it is.
