Your daughter probably doesn’t have the life she has, tho. lol
It’s a teenager.
Most of us where like her at the time, hell, most of us didn’t live in a fart cave and then in a boring zen planet.
It’s only fair that she’s a little brat after all that.
Is it sad about what happened to Maya? oh f*ck yes.
Maya was my favorite character of the series.
But i don’t think a kid deserves the hate or “i hope she gets killed in bl4”.
and another thing thats even more major then that…shes a video game character…she wont mind if you hate on her because “she” is just a thing, no soul, no intelligence, no consciouseness.
Ava is badly written. Thats it. As such she is dislikable, unrealistic and doesnt reflect hardship on any level real homeless kids have to endure and overcome. But she really is on par with the rest of the storywriting IMO.
Mayas death is so sidelined that it doesnt even register as a major event. You had to know her from previous games in order to understand the gravitas of whats happening. Otherwise its just “oh hey, that blue haired chick who talks like a gangstah just got iced cuz she was stupid af”. And in case you DO know her from previous BL games her death scene is a serious offense to the character itself. She is supposed to be battle hardened, experienced and know how to use her powers.
We are talking about a video game story…not real humans. You know the difference between hollywood and real life yes? Hollywood produces the flicks where almost everybody has the “I hope this dude dies a horrible death, gawd I cant stand his face” moments. Thats who Ava is.
If she is indeed meant for greater things I seriously hope she changes because her current character simply sucks.
Yeah, and Roland was experienced, battle-hardened, and probably wearing a shield. The only minor thing that bothers me about Maya is that Lilith didn’t get dusted when she got drained. I think the powers could’ve still eventually gone to Ava with Maya surviving as a mentor. But I’m also perfectly alright with her being dust.
He was and he was taken by surprise at a vulnerable moment. I was dumbfounded becasue I didnt expect it. Not sure if you want to suggest “something” there but Rolands and Mayas death are not comparable whatsoever.
I didnt even catch that little mistake. Cuz you are right, Lilith should ve been as much dust as Maya and she would ve died an even lamer death in that case.
And Maya was caught by something unexpected in a moment where she thought she was in control. Her death is actually more reasonable than Roland’s. But I’m not so attached to either character that I’d project Mary Sue’s Plot Armor onto them.
Okay I see we have to agree to disagree then. Mayas death was simply stupid to me, she was dying in part as a consequence of her own wrongdoing. Worse it was a mistake that should not have happened to somebody with her experience. I cant say the same about Roland.
I m not saying I am right and you are wrong, you obviously have a different view on the matter, thats all. I am known to be a hard-arse on movies I watch as well when some characters are first introduced as real badasses, veterans and even act the way in the first half of the movie but in the end die because of stupid oversights or rookie mistakes. Its a movie, Director had to end it somehow, took the lazy approach…still bad and it ruins my enjoyment when I instead become irritated.
Mayas death is just the same. Unrealistic, lazy and rushed. Rolands death wasnt.
edit: did several edits here, sorry. I rather wanted to do this then make a new post but its possible that you reply to an “old version” just now ^^
It’s all good. Most of us are passionate about the games in our own ways, and many of us are aggressively opinionated. Some of us are bound to clash from time to time, therefore. As long as we don’t get personal, we might be safe from the purple weirdos, at least.
Anyone else not dig the twins fart jokes over and over? They would call the ship …to make fart jokes…what? These are the super villians? You know i would not dislike alot of the story as much if i could skip cut scenes…after watching them 6 or 7 times it really kills me to see some of them yet again
@sehenry10
Admittedly that is my actual thought on the matter.
But who knows what the writers will go with if they do anything at all with Kreig again.
Yes, he would almost certainly prefer to have Maya around. And all that’s left of her is now within Ava. And not even Krieg is insane enough to remove all agency from the twins and Maya herself in order to place the blame on Ava.
I think the problem with Ava is that her character arc actually needs more telling, since most of it happens under the hood and is never properly explained. She blames Lilith for Maya’s death, periodically gives her lip, Tannis tells her to blame Troy, she gives Lilith lip one last time, and then she’s basically a different person for the rest of the game. Clearly sometime between the end of Eden-6 to the fight with Troy Ava changes, but it is never really expressed how.
But the thing is, Ava doesn’t actually blame Lilith for what happened to Maya. After all it was Lilith trying to convince Maya not to go, and it was Ava’s own repeated disobeying of orders that forced Maya to take Troy a hostage which in turn led to Maya’s end.
Every moment of sass from then on is Ava unraveling her own misguided feelings.
She claims Vault Hunters run towards the fire - but her doing so in disregard of all else on Promethea got Maya killed.
She tells Lilith that it is Tannis’ choice to go down to Eden-6 - but it was also Maya’s choice too.
When Tannis tells her it is not Lilith’s but Troy’s fault Maya is dead, Ava is actually being told that her own self is not responsible.
Which comes around to the final moment of sass she gives to Lilith, but it’s different from the others. This would be the moment that the Ava we met on Athenas would rip in to Lilith for costing them someone else but instead she’s actually trying to stop Lilith from blaming her own self for Tannis’ capture. She’s still giving Lilith undue sass, but the way she directs it has done a complete 180.
Ava’s character growth basically happens under the hood for half the game and is never really properly expressed to the player until its complete at Troy’s death when she can let go of the last of her guilt.
