Hah! I did that while farming the train. Poor Frosty was done before the 1st reload.

I compare let’s say my purple to purple SMG to my LMG’s. The SMG’s have the same DPS but are higher in % chance.
The LMG’s have higher Dmg but generally the fire rate is slower. Not much difference between the 2.
I’m hoping for some special LMG’s now. My corrode SMG did better against the final constructor in Bunker than my Lmg.
Still I prefer shotguns along with my Grog now.

I’m gonna assume you mean Assault Rifles when you say ā€œLMGā€

Yes, on average you are right, but most ARs are not exactly top choices either.
It’s just that Unique ARs (like the Kitten for example) are usually better than most unique SMGs for Sal.

Honestly, with Salvador, Shotguns is where it’s at most of the time, the higher the DPS the better.

Yes, Isn’t that what they’re called? (Lmg’s) I got it in my head when writing down my inventory as Smg=Small machine gun and Lmg=Large.
I just compared my corrosive and fire Smg’s with my comparable Assault rifles and the Smg’s DPS and crits were both better by a distinct margin. That’s why I go with them for general battles while farming.

Pre-Grog, I used to equip the AR’s for tough ammo gulping battles to have another weapon to go to if my shotgun and Smg ammo was getting low. Also at the time they were a bit better…so I thought… than my Smg’s at the time. but then I picked up better and better ones while the AR drops have been lacking even today. Maybe my purples are as high as they go until I get the specialties like the kitten.
That’s what I’m watching for.

I was totally surprised that my Grog and Corrosive Smg took down BNK3R fairly easily. That’s all I used.
Took longer as I hid up the stairs but it worked.
My shotguns are always the go to item for bosses or anything tough. That will never change.

Since getting the grog and of course all the suggestions by you, Carlton and others, It’s been a total change in game play for the way better. As always much appreciated!!
I keep posting little things in this thread in case others may be trying Sal and could get some help just reading what I’ve gone through.

SMG stands for Sub machine gun, not small.

There are almost no real world ā€œmachine gunā€ analog in the game except Bandit and their band-fed ARs. Those guns usually come with a tripod and are manned by a team of 2-3.

Assault rifle (like the AK-47 for example) are much much smaller.

I know it’s Sub, But like I said, I just got it in my head as large and small and because of the game’s goofy names for the weapons it was easier for visually ID’ing them.

Should be interesting now that I’m heading into the last zone before going after Jack and the Warrior.
The only problem might be that the Surveyors will distract heavily. I used to be able to snipe them easily but not in UVHM. My shock Sniper might do it but I haven’t had the chance to try lately.
My shock Smg and Grog has been getting them decently leading up to this but they get their hits in 1st.

Once I get to the Warrior I’ll probably farm for a while until I get something other than Jack’s Head.
1st 2 modes that’s all I EVER got. Not one orange. I really farmed it a lot in TVHM.

Looking for some input here on a couple of items.
From the train I got a purple 72 ā€˜Partisan Topneaa’ RL (Shock)
Something about that name reminded me of ā€œThe Guideā€ for Sal.
There it is top of the list.
Compared to my other Shock RL
Prudential PBFG …3017583 dmg…Dps 63K…34.8%…0.9fr
Partisan Topneaa…1360455 dmg…Dps 53K…24%…2.0fr

Normally I’d see those #'s and the Prudential would stay by #'s alone, But the other is a Topneaa !!
As in top of the list. I understand in reviewing the guide about the extra ammo and fire rate.
Which should I keep?

Also the train gave me the 72 Leg ā€œBlack Holeā€ shock nova shield. 577254 Cap…1376814 Nova Dmg.
I’ve never really used the nova’s much and am wondering if this is worth keeping.
Inventory is getting tight again after some of these drops.

The Topneaa, hands down.

PBFGs are nice but they are slow and consume 2 ammo per shot, while the Topneaa is much faster to shoot and reload, and consume less than 1 ammo per shot.

The Black hole is cute and fun, but it has no synergy with Sal.
If you have a friend who plays gaige, they might like it.

I figured that was going to be the response. I’m learning to get away from the #'s game.
Always good to get experienced opinions.

So between posting that and doing a little more on the train it gave me a Leg Neogenator shield.
Tested it out in Tinkerton and the health pretty much stays full. Shied goes down quick but the health increase makes up for it.
Never heard of this one but seems like it might have a use. I don’t know.
I’m getting a very strange mix or Oranges in my inventory now.

You might want to check the Top Gear for Salvador thread

Both the Neogenator and the Topneaa are in there

Spycho drops the Neogenator. You can find it(him? her?) in Frostburn Canyon after doing the Doc Zed side quest after you reach the main story missions that send you to Eridium Blight/Sawtooth Cauldron. You can also find Spycho in the T.K. Baha Headhunter DLC- that’s where I got my first Negenator from…

Continuing on my specialty weapons bucket list, only after about 40 kills of the Warrior I got the Skullmasher,
Sticky lobbed fire Leech and then the Conference Call. So happy to finally get the CC I did a few more and left.
I looked up more about the CC and found out there are elemental ones. I got the ā€˜Potential’ Conf Call.
sighs Sounds like me in high school…He has plenty of potential if he’d only apply himself
So basically I got the red-headed step child of the CC’s. Still fun but…

What are the chances if I make the trek back to the Warrior that I’ll eventually get an elemental or especially the ā€˜Critical’ Since I already got a CC?

I’d heard about the CC and BEE combo being toned down for Vermi (and overall). I gave it a shot and Yep, Very difficult.
I used the Grog with it and usually by the time Vermi showed slag he was sinking back down. My various slag grenades were way off timing and my Leg Bouncing Bonnie worked OK. I tried ā€˜Pride Rock’ but Vermi would spawn right in front of me every time right after the lazers would do major damage before I could eliminate them. Pride rock doesn’t work for me like in TVHM, So I ran around and was bounced into space many times …If I didn’t back off the cliff myself.
I tabled Vermi for a while.

Decided to finish Jackenstein. Knowing what to do but continually got pummelled by his jump. after 3 times in a row being trapped by his leg and a container while in FFYL and not being able to hit a loader for a 2nd wind I gave up.
Watched a video and saw that ā€˜safe area’ when you 1st land. Ok, I’ll do this as I didn’t want to spend too much on J-stein and just wanted the drop.
Lame I know.
One thing I learned in that safe room, Don’t mistakenly release your Storm Front grennade. Somehow I survived and did finally kill J-Stein. Of course he didn’t drop the weapon most say he does every time.

I killed the Prof and looted the room, Nothing better there either. I DID NOT turn in the mission to Hammerlock , Can I go after J-Stein again? (after making the trek back ) Or does it matter if it’s turned in or not?
Not hugely important, Just would like to get that weapon and put that DLC to rest.

Jackenstein respawns so you can trek back there as you like to fight him. The treasure room is only accessible during the mission, if I remember correctly

I think you’re confusing Terramorphous and Vermiverous- Terra is the one that has the cliff and bounces you around…

LOL…Yes, Quickly abbreviating the name and went with the wrong one. Read so many threads before posting this.
Any suggestions of what to use against TERRA?
I thought a fire shottie would be key but didn’t do much. I have a decent Purple Hyperian fire SG.
I did do the BEE/Grog/Conf Call mostly but didn’t do much even with Terra being slagged part of the time.
I rarely see a video on anyone beating a boss with normal purples and Legendaries, Mostly 30 sec battles with tweaked or top weapons etc.

Thanks maxageddon, Just wanted to confirm. It is pretty easy to dead run all the way and I’ll probably give it a shot again. I remember the treasure room is closed off (and saw it after quit/save before leaving) Only about 6 purples showed up and none were better or even close to what I have.

If I was you I would simply use a legendary gunzerker com with a dpuh/grog combo or try this [Build] Salvador

Refer to that link often. I need to get another DPUH first. Previously I had a level 50 but no Grog, By the time I got to 72 the DPUH wasn’t doing anything. Now that I have the Grog I’ll have to farm tokens at the bar.
Have the Leg BERzerker com and only a 67. I pretty much run with my 72 Chaotic evil monk. 49% crit.

Yeah the monk is great for mobbing. Also to get a dpuh on level shouldn’t be hard just go farm the bar room on normal or true than come back to uvhm and get one. Also if that’s the class mod I’m thinking of it’s the best replacement com until you can get a leg. Gunzerker.

Thanks for the reminder. I did just that. I forgot that that was an easier option. Dropped to TVHM and played with my Topneaa and my purple expl RL.
Insanely quick work so much so I collected another 600+ tokens.
It did take about 50 quit/saves to get the DPUH to show up. Now I’ll probably get one dropped from a LLM. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah that’s how rng works lol.
Did you get a torgue grip on it

I should have had the image burned in my head but I was just happy to get one finally.
I just checked some pictures and it doesn’t look like it. Mine has a couple of faint yellow stripes on the grip yet the pictures don’t show that. It just doesn’t seem to say Yep, That’s it. I guess I could check out the vending machine again since I have enough tokens.
If you sell anything (bought with tokens) in the torgue vending machine do you get tokens back??
I’ve never had to do that. :stuck_out_tongue:
