I have just started playing the beta and after 4 game I haven’t gotten off a red bar yet. I have a green bar on every other game i try to play except this. Are there any Aus servers? Has anyone else had a horrible connection?
Yep horrible lag in Australia… Two red bars at best…my shots look and sound like they connect …but the score tally does not register a single kill …none of my shots register… Except in co-op campaign mode it works fine. ( running NAT type 2 )
It’s pretty poor by gearbox if they haven’t got Aus servers in the beta. I mean with a game that has 2 competitors coming out around the same time. If they don’t add Aus servers by the end of the beta it will probably put me off of buying it, defiantly at release considering that 10 days later another similar game will release.
Same here. Always one bar (red). Lots of glitchy stuff though somehow the damage still seems to register correctly so not too bothered.
I’ve not had any problems with lag so far. Seems better than Destiny for sure. I do have an NBN connection so that might make a difference.
Wish I had NBN
NBN or no NBN this is an issue. I hope this is rectified quickly and servers are deployed in Australia as connections and functional netcode are as much as a make or break point for games as the content is now days. PVE content is functional. PVE is a little dismal anyway and the lag only compounds the issue and makes the entire experience less enjoyable.
GBX have said that they are going to be running a server in singapore. Dunno if it’s up for the beta though. I’m personally not having an issue. Certainly no disconnects like Destiny, which is already an improvement.
A server in Singapore isn’t that good, we need local Aus servers. Anyway its not about disconnects is about lag. Not once did i lag while playing destiny and I was just on CS:GO and had a ping of >30 the entire game so its not on my end. They are trying to make a competitive MOBA so lag can ruin the game for people. Destiny is a completely different thing because it was mainly a PvE, so a little lag wouldn’t matter, but for a MOBA it will ruin it.
Singapore is better than we often get. Anyway I’ve just been playing multiplayer for the past two hours. No lag to speak of. Apart from 1 hiccup starting a match, no issues at all.
I’m having a blast with this game
Not really I cant think of to many triple A dev’s that don’t have local Aus servers. Especailly if its a multiplayer game. Hell the Culling has them. Also I am constantly on red bar and while hit detection is alright especially for a red bar. However Im not going to buy a competitive game that leaves me constantly on red bar. I really wont to like this game but at the moment it is hard to.
Plz respond 2k. plz.
This is the Gearbox forum. I’m sure they’ll have seen this post, and they’ll respond when they have a definite answer, I guess.
Patience it is, then. Until then I dwell in the bars of red.
A “Hey thanks guys we are have something in the pipep to resolve these issues” type response wpuld be nice
I my experience, gearbox like to give info on confirmed solutions rather than possibly false hope.
These things can take some time, though. I’m sure they are looking into it.
I got my first dose of lag last night. I really noticed it because I hadn’t been getting any.
It was during splitscreen action. The lag turned it into Destiny’s Crucible, complete with teleporting enemies…it was bad.
I couldn’t play it like that at all.
Went back to multiplayer and the lag went away, so its only splitscreen causing lag for me at this stage.
The lag experienced is nothing like you describe nor like the stuttering movement lag experience in Destiny. From my brief experience this game uses a vastly different network architecture to that of Destiny. The closest lag experience I can compare it to, is like playing on an European or US server in a Dice/EA game. Movement is still fluent, game is still flowing, you hit marker appears to connect when you are die you ask the questions … How the F? What he wasn’t even attacking me? How did he one shot me? Whilst the netcode does appear to be far superior to that of other games I’m not sure if it can compensate for this kind of connection differentiation.
An example of this was last night, everyone on my team had a 1 bar connection, the other team all had 4 bars. At the end of the game their collective deaths as a team was less than everyone’s deaths on my team. Whilst you might suggest they were better players - they were not. They were just unable to be hit accurately.
I guess until then I’ll cancel my pre-order and see if the situation improves. Other than the lag situation I was thoroughly impressed with the fundamentals and concept of the game.
Yeah we were having hits not connect as well. It was really bad, and in my case exactly like Destiny teleporting, in addition to hits not registering and dying unexpectedly. Literally unplayable for me in split screen.
May I ask, where are you seeing the ‘red bar’ for connection; I haven’t seen it but I’m probably just missing it?
