So let me get this straight. I My weapons are 7 levels behind. I can’t get a decent drop to save my life. Now you are going to nerf drop rates? wow!!! how about fixing bugs instead.

yes, they will nerf your drop rates only

That’s not related to the loot drop rates. Enemies in this game don’t scale to your level until you beat the game and turn on Mayhem mode. So if you overlevel your character, your drops will be the same level as the enemies that drop them instead of your level, and your quest reward items will be the same level as the recommended level for the quest. Gearbox definitely needs to add level scaling to normal mode for the drops and quest rewards.
The new drop rates are pretty terrible though, was a mistake for Gearbox to drop them.

I seen this with AC Creed…if you have level scaling in the first playthrough then you’ll have people complaining about that.

If you’ve beaten the game, just turn on mayhem mode. Now everything is your level, including the loot.
If you haven’t beaten the game, who cares? You’re 12 levels ahead of every enemy, you don’t need good guns to kill them. Just rush the rest of the story and start the mayhem.
Yeah, I remember people complaining about that in AC Odyssey as well. I think Gearbox should keep it possible to overlevel enemies if you want to make the game easier, but the enemies should drop loot that scales to your level. Quest rewards and chest drops should also level scale.

I believe Sanctuary shops will always sell gear at your level. Including Earl’s.

Check in the Marcus vending machine at Sanctuary, those weapons I think scale at least to your level.
I had luck joining random games and checking vending machines as the gear always seemed to scale to my level that way.

yep, unfortunately, that’s how BL2, TPS(except vending mach.), and now BL3 works.
3 solutions,
- gold chest in Sanctuary will always give gear at your level
2 . I believe Crazy Earl’s vendor also gives at level guns (takes eridium)
- Join a friends game at a higher level or ask to join someone farming a Boss, if you don’t want much xp, just stay one battle, on the kill there will be gear/guns at your level or just below
It’s strange because I have mixed feelings on this.
In borderlands 2, I had to really grind to get legendaries whereas on mayhem 3 - even after the nerfs - legendaries are kinda thrown around in chests and easy to kill bosses. May be harder to farm for a particular legendary - like mod classes - but it still takes the novelty of it being a legendary away wen you look at 80% of them and go ‘nah!’.
However I was playing co-op with my other half and we were having a tough time getting weapons as we scaled through the story other than the story given rewards. And heaven forbid I wanted to not use jakobs or torgue - the other guns feel so much weaker with the exception of maybe Dahl due to fire rate.
I even started to try Hyperion only but struggled immensely on Normal because of world drops.
So to me, it’s only an issue throughout story. Yes I want it difficult but my partner is a borderlands noob. It made it hard for him to enjoy - not because he wasn’t one shorting things, he didn’t mind grinding, but because the weapons he kept finding were lacklustre.
