So Character Rank is the exact same as how Heroes of the Storm does it? aight, simple enough.

I assume Command Rank behaves just like Mastery with Runes being the loot part, sure hope they aren’t random.

you’re talking about the helix system (which is match to match), i’m talking about character rank from the persistent progression system (which only ranks up once per character).

this was probably designed to keep us playing for longer. I was curious to find out how long it takes to get to rank 10 because if it’s too long it becomes a grind; but if it’s too short it shortens the playability of the game by not giving the player enough time to find all that hero’s ā€˜quirks’.

HELIX SYSTEM

ā€œBattleborn’s accelerated character growth system allows players to level-up a character from 1 to 10 and fully experience each hero’s unique weapons and powers in a single story mission or multiplayer match.ā€

Oh huh.

So there’s two 1-10 systems.

In that case no one knows, I don’t think this leveling system has ever been talked about in interviews.

Hopefully it’s done in a way which gets important stuff (extra skills and such) fairly quickly, maybe a similar time as leveling 1-30 in Borderlands.

But have ā€œpointless stuffā€ (fancy skins) require significant experience as that character so if you see someone who’s level 10 Marquis you know they’re most likely a damn good sniper.

I would imagine the persistent system has more than 10 levels, that seems a bit low. In League of Legends, your Summoner level goes up to 30 and you unlock Runes and Mastery Points which gives higher level players a slight leg up and allows you to diversify your strategies a bit more. I hope Command Ranks will give advanced players more options, but not make them impossible to fight in PvP.

yeah it does, i’m bit worried about that. People like levelling up (i know i do), i wonder if they could add more levels (maybe they can’t because each level has meaningful rewards). it would be frustrating if it takes a really long time to level up.

If it’s 10 per char (which it says in the op) it’s the same as HotS
10 levels per champ, that also applies to your overall level, 10x25=250. That ain’t low at all. lol.

Not many people are gonna wanna play as every character (i know i probably won’t). they’re gonna ā€˜main’ certain characters they like and play with them.

Obviously, but why would you want to have to continuously grind to unlock more skills/augments/whatever they call them to use?
Or even just have 10 unlock say, the mastery skin (idk what hots calls it) then after that be just meaningless levels that give you nothing but a numero.

I wasn’t expecting a per champ ranking, but that does make sense. Thanks for the info. I think it will be fun to raise the rank of all the champs I enjoy.

Hmm. Website does not move at dev speed. The information there is a -little- dated.

With CHARACTER RANK, I want to create an experience of ā€œgoing deepā€ with a character, where you can level up that character over several hours, earn character-specific rewards, and find ways to exhibit your love and mastery of a character to other players. There are actually two other components of this other than CHARACTER RANK, but we haven’t mentioned those yet.

As to the time it takes…still working through that. I want to be sure you’re rewarded for play very frequently. I’m a rewards/loot driven kind of guy, and I like to know there’s always something interesting to earn just around the corner. BUT, we’ve also seen that too much can be overwhelming. I’m counting on our Beta to help us sort out what pacing feels right. It will probably be in the 10-20 hour range, per character.

COMMAND RANK (sometimes referred to as meta-level, account level, account rank) is your global progression level. Currently, there are 100 COMMAND ranks. COMMAND RANK is there to give you a better picture of your overall progress, to a point. There are some parts of the game that are unlocked by earning command ranks.

All i know is levelling up is fun always will be, but if gbx drags it out for replay-ability it’ll be a slog; and if levelling up is over after relatively short period of time i’ll be disappointed.

Leveling up keeps people playing for longer as such game developers use it as an incentive for us to keep playing (, sometimes even after the period which gamers are enjoying the game).
This was one of the major problems with destiny; people kept playing even after they had gotten tired of the game just because they wanted to get to level 30, etc. what i’m getting at, is that a leveling system is a delicate balancing act and that if done even a little bit wrong it can be devastating for a video game.

i’m just saying i want it to be ā€˜just right’

Couldn’t ask for any more.
Any chance on getting the date of when the beta drops?

If the PvP has a ranking system, that will also keep people playing for a long time once all the leveling up is done.

why is it that my charcter lv goes back to 1 once i had it at 10 is this a way so youll have to use ur characrter more n ill have to do get my charecter to rank 15 for it to stay at lv10

oh sorry for the bad english i im not american but what i was sayin is like for example one game i had my Orendi lv10 but when i started another match he appeared lv1 n i had to get the moves and abbiltys again is this gonna keep happening evrytime i reach lv10 till i finish the ranks of the hero???

that’s the point of the game. Each match you being at level 1, then gain levels until you hit 10. Each match gives you the chance to try different helix setups.

character level and command level are different. Character level is how often (and how well) you play 1 character. Command level is your total level regardless of the character you use

but what bout when i reach the rank15 wit da then will he stay at lv10?

No… the game modes require you to level up as the game progresses. You will never start at level 10 unless they start doing one off game modes with it.

if some people start at level 10 and others level 1 it would break the game and the level 1s would never be able to catch up.

its like a Moba game in this sense, where you have to level up with each game.

The confusion seemed to be due to the character rank and command rank versus the character level. In case it never got resolved here is my attempt to explain.

Character Level: 1 - 10, gained per match always starting at Level 1 and unlocking Helix choices with each level gained during the match.

Character Rank: 1 - 15, gained from experience per match while using that particular character and unlocking Helix Mutations for when you level up during a match.

Command Rank: 1 - ???, gained from experience per match using any character and unlocking new gear load outs as well as other customization options.
