Balance thoughts so far

I’m a pc moba player and fps player so BB was right up my alley. I’m diamond in smite and plat in lol. Here are my thoughts on BB’s balance so far. Obviously not all characters are unlocked for everyone and mastered. Also not everyone is familiar with this games mechanics at this time so this is a first impression, but I see some problems that aren’t likely to go away.

  1. Incursion is the only balanced game mode. I don’t want to go too far into this because to me it’s very obvious. I feel that GB knows this too since the twitch “tourney” was on overgrowth. In incursion even “bad” characters in meltdown or capture have roles that they can do very well. In other words when the game is more objective based characters who aren’t just killers and healers shine and actually perform their role.

  2. Tanks+healers are unstoppable and something needs to change. Miko, ambra, or reyna paired with isic, montana, or kelvin is scary if the players know what they are doing. But boulder IMO is the worst. My buds and I played an incursion with miko, ambra, and boulder. I was boulder and I don’t think I’ve ever abused a skilled group of opponents that much. They had a good team comp with miko, rath, montana, marquis, and ambra. They just could not kill me. Boulder has 35% damage reduction, 30% movement speed, a shield that he can have up while sprinting, a stun, a ranged nuke, auto attack damage increase, an oversheild, health regen, and an ult that both boosts his damage and heals him for blocked damage all built into his kit. At lvl 10 with 3k+ hp, 35% damage reduction, and axes hitting for 500 damage It just wasn’t stoppable. No assasin can burst through 3.5khp and 35% damage reduction plus a shield that heals you and healers like miko and ambra. I was taking on 3 dudes with sentry aggro at the same time finished 19-0 with 60k damage taken. I’m not bragging, this should not happen. On top of this the tanks in this game do real damage. Isic does insane damage with his ult, he also has a stun, and a shield. Montana and kelvin are in different boats but they are just as hard to kill and they both have cc and crazy damage. GB for the love of god if you don’t want every incursion to be 2 healers+ 2 tanks and 1 assasin please nerf either the healers or the tanks. The dps characters just don’t have enough damage to kill them.

  3. XP needs a change. Certain characters have a very hard time leveling up, and if you fall behind it doesn’t really matter how good you are if you’re fighting a person 3 levels higher than you. In smite/lol if you are near enemies who are killed you get xp. I think this would work better in BB too than the current system. Staying alive should be a priority, and because i’m healing a guy who was out of position and not attacking minions I lose xp. This is a bad system and it really leaves players who have never played a moba out in the cold. Smite’s arena mode levels everyone at a sort of constant rate. The only time players gain an advantage is by controlling objectives. It’s also not fun to just stomp someone because they’re 4 levels lower than you.

Other than these 3 things I’m loving the games balance. The items are very well balanced for the most part. There are a few that suck like cdr items being too inconsequential, but the vast majority offer interesting choices. I’m having a ton of fun with the game, but I can’t help but notice these huge issues. There are a lot of small balance things I think the game will fix. Some characters are OP some are a little weak, but none of them require massive overhauls. I think GB has done overall a great job with balancing. Overall I’m loving the game and i’m so glad GB made such a unique game.

That reminds me, I played yesterday as Rath against Boldur and few times I experienced situation like this one:

Swords are stupid! Axe wins again! Boldur cant hit for 500 unless its a crit or other external factors are at play. Wait till you get a feel for Attikus and Gali, brawlers hurt

Attikus is still really hard to use well. I wish he had some of that damage reduction.

When rath ults a good boulder player will pop his ult then shield the damage which also heals boulder, It’s insane. The rath player was literally healing me when he ulted. Whats worse is that rath’s ult even with items wont rip through 3.5k hp with 35% dr.

also dwarfurious he can hit for over 500 dmg when his meter is full and you take the right skills and items. This is without crit.

That only shows that I need to play with all characters ASAP, didn’t know he has such awesome defensive skills/stats…

I didn’t mention this bc I believe atticus will be fixed balance wise, but his damage is downright stupid. No character in the game can 1v1 atticus in melee, but since he’s so huge I guess it’s not really a big deal. I just don’t like a character that can stomp assassins in melee range. I’m a phoebe main and I stay the ■■■■ away from atticus.

He doesnt have a meter, and no he cant, regardless of items and skills. At level 10 with all damage helix choices and full 3600 hp he axes for 330~, in his 5 hit combo the last strike hits harder, and its still only 360~ and this is with 8% damage item, not that it matters since thats a huge gap from 500. Unless you’re talking about crits, like i said. Or other external factors.
If you have items that add 30-40% damage then i imagine most characters will hit hard.

sorry I didn’t mean meter I meant rune power. Try it out for yourself, he can. I don’t feel like arguing something I know to be true. Get plus skill damage items, and spec into +15% axe damage. The numbers will pop up on ur screen.

edit: so you pin somone to a wall crit them in the face whilst stunned for 300+damage crit once or twice then hit them with 500 damage as they run away.

See I haven’t experienced that at all. Yeah Attikus does a lot of damage but he typically starts every fight with a thousand damage because everyone targets the big horned demon immediately. You’re usually getting shot before you even get close because you have to save the leap to run away (and you HAVE to run, trust me). It’s weird, it’s like he is meant to be more of an assassin with his damage and quick leap but he has tank health and is probably the easiest person in the game to hit.

I did try it out, he doesnt hit for 500, i play a lot of boldur i know he doesnt get that high, i knew it was a crit because crits do 1.5x and runic axe toss doesnt count because you did say ‘axes hitting for 500’. Mikos got a fat crit box for a reason, hes super vulnerable. Miko + Tank vs Miko + Tank happens a lot and its kinda fun. Still, should be some asterisks in there somewhere since that damage requires RoP on and hp full, popping your nuke cuts your damage. While he can summon his axe back with his Ult there will always be times hes either holding back from throwing his axe or he throws it early and is without.
As for certain characters having trouble leveling up, thats Boldur too. Slow attacks and awful lane clear, thats why hes a late game character.
