Gaige is the character I’m least familiar with (the screaming) and it’s been 2/3 years since I’ve played as her, but I’m giving her another go.

I always try and complete as many BAR challenges on my way through Normal & True, and I’ve noticed an oddity with the shield challenges. I’ve completed Absorb Shield and Spike Shield no problems. I’ve been wearing a Black Hole for a while & I have only 1 Nova kill. I chucked on a Bee & no Amp Shield kills have registered. Haven’t tried a Roid yet.

Is this a weird Gaige thing? I was specced into Fancy Math but I re-specced out of it thinking the Delay & Rate buffs might be affecting it. TIA.

When I tried for Amp kills I was using a Deliverance. Mostly been using that and a Hellfire, occasionally a Pimp with the Black Hole. The BH had fired a few dozen times that I’ve noticed but only 1 kill recorded… when it should be 20/30ish.

Is DoT stealing the kills? I have definitely had the Black Hole wreck face with her (though I haven’t tracked BAR for some time).

Could be DoT. Could it be DT? I thought there might be a known bug where using skill x stopped something. There’s a few like that in TPS (or were at least, maybe they were patched). I might try it with no skill points assigned & see if it does anything.

I’ve never had much love for the Black Hole because I feel it’s too weak. But that’s just me, I guess! :wink: Have you tried a nova shield with a different element?

Maybe it’s the shock… Usually I farm for Nova kills on normal in Tundra Ex, but after I’ve hit level 35, so I can use my chain lightning with a level 8/9 FoTH.

Thanks to both of you for your input. I’m speaking like Jack at the mo, so when I’m back in Sanc I’ll try it with a FoTF

Okay, so I went back to Sanc, removed all skill points. Equipped a Bee, started killing (& trying to keep it charged…:grimacing:) I added the points back in skill by skill and they all kept registering. I then equipped a FoTH & broke it with a Logans Gun, and got some Nova kills.
Then I put DT out & tried to break the shield again, and couldn’t (thinking as I’m back into Sharing Is Caring that DT would get Nova kills?) It could go down to a shield of 1 or 2, and if I kept firing, it wouldn’t break the shield (although my health would keep dipping down). Then I tried breaking it with a Chain Lightning & it worked. Put DT out, broke it fine with a CL. Tried with a LG again, and now I can break it again.

Hmmm… so there’s some weird combination of skill points/gear that appears to behave oddly, but not consistently… but at least I know I can complete the challenges.

Well, there are a few well known bugs regarding DT. Maybe you’ve just discovered another one. :man_facepalming:

You mentioned using a roid shield earlier… A build, that I currently can’t find the link to, but that you might like, is one where you go full melee. The Hide of Terramorphous and a bladed Grog is the required gear. HoT is a bitch to get, I know! Then you go down the Anarchy tree to get 5/5 in Blood Soaked Shields, and then you go to town. Very effective, and lots of fun!
