Yup, got a clear hacker too. Actually, I wonder if the whole team wasn’t hacking, as more than just the Marquis were displaying some weird behaviour. But I may be wrong : the aimbot may only work with Marquis. The Kleese and Isic were just very, VERY, reactive and anticipative. The Marquis could just be calling the shots with his wallhack, though.
Also, more than one of them had already been flagged by VAC on Steam, soo…

Anyway I’d be happy to dig the match ID if this could be of any use to the dev team.

PC is where you will get 99% of the accusations of cheating, because almost all the cheating does happen on that platform.

Its one of the main reasons I switched from PC to console gaming…I got tired of all the hacking ■■■■■■■■. I’ve been on console for a few years now and have never looked back.

Yeah it’s sad… Only after a couple of days of battleborn I don’t even want to get on it ( too bad to because the game is fun)… But having to worry about people cheating just ruins the whole experience for me… I been messing with the Overwatch Beta… I don’t know what blizzard does to stop hackers/cheaters but I haven’t seen 1 hack video for Overwatch yet and that game was in beta forever… If I do get another shooter on PC it will only be a blizzard shooter. Because no other company does a good job at stopping people that love to cheat…

can’t the devs add code to the game to tell if a 3rd party app is messing with the game?

Every match has a unique ID code and I suspect that a file containing all necessary info is stored, so it wold be possible to catch cheaters. Permanent ban seems like a good first step.

Well, could have been worse. The game could have been hacked so hard during the Beta Gearbox would have to redesign its competitive game mode from the beginning.

On a serious note, I am pretty sure Gearbox is aware of the cheaters, even more so since we are reporting. They will definitely do something about it.

Thing is, when a game is Rated T, there are bound to be children playing it, therefore there are bound to be people who use hacks.

Short answer: no. Long answer:
To combat cheats u need 2 things 1. Everything that matters in the game should “happen” on the server. 2. Client and server should “talk” securely. Because you can’t prevent bad things happen on the user machine right, you just can’t. On the other hand, it’s expensive and puts high load on game servers it everything “happens” there. That’s how I understand it, I’m not an expert tho

Just FYI, there is a generic hack available that isn’t unique to one game, and is currently practically undetectable because the application runs via a cloud service instead of in your system resident processes. It’s a horribly dangerous thing to use, for many reasons, not just that it’s a hack and you are a tool for using it, but it also opens a permanent security door to your entire computer.

People currently use it in Overwatch, Call of Duty, Battlefront, Battlefield, as they all share similar gameplay assets that the application can exploit.

The problem isn’t Battleborn alone, it’s the app itself that’s plaguing all online shooters on PC at the moment (it’s not currently possible to use it on consoles).

I’d add that systems like VAC tried to do exactly this, and mostly failed. There was an outcry over Dark Souls 2 VAC system because it just plain sucked : it was detecting programs that weren’t even related to the game like the streaming software. Or banning people for using DS unofficial fix ( knowing there was a few really important issues ). Or ENBs / ReShades / SweetFX, visual improvements. Or people that weren’t using an official Xbox gamepad and had to use x360ce or other inputmapper softwares…
In the end, they just disabled it permanently.

In short, a system like that is bound to detect anything and ban anyone, and cause headaches to the developpers …

To add to this. If memory serves Blizzard was once sued because, in their attempt to thwart hackers, they added some software that scanned memory of users for programs designed to hack. That is illegal. no one can scan your computer without your permission (open to debate on if it happens anyway). But game companies walk a thin line on these issues.

HACKERS SUCK. Hacking to win doesn’t make you cool or even good. It just makes you a **** (pick a four letter word and it probably fits).

Err, the devs need to know how the exploits are occuring before they can patch them. Security holes in software cannot be fixed until they are found.

Even Windows OS releases always have… I cannot recall the name of the technical term now - “release day hotfixes” or something like that?
Once people find the security holes, the developers are thus aware of them and can fix them. This is true for pretty much all software (even games).

Man I’m really pissed. Got two straight matches both with hackers I think.

First one, there’s a team mate just standing in our base shooting, and miraculously the enemy sentry health goes down! The others are not even pass the middle point of the map!

Second match, aimbot Marquis on the opposite team. Playing as Orendi, I know I’m squishy but I’m also fast and constantly moving. Yet I show my head for 3 seconds and then I’m dead, 3 head shots? I couldn’t figure, I just knew right now it was unplayable.

And I thought gaming should be fun… sigh

It would work optimally with marquis cause of his non-projectile instant-hit attack. Aimbotting isn’t quite as useful with projectile attacks (heck, some games allow lock-on targeting, which effectively serves the same purpose).

Yeah… But as I saw from the old videos, it only snaps when aiming which not all ranged character can actually do, so it would seem to trigger only on activating the scope. Should work with Oscar Mike as well, maybe others, I sadly don’t know the full roster well :wink:

I thoughts DEV’s don’t build security products either? I could be wrong, but don’t they get third party cheat systems to intergrate into their games?

His analogy isn’t dumb dumb dumb, I found it to be pretty accurate to be fair.

I have seen it with Ghalt. The guys chain had to triple in length to get me and he was pulling through solid objects, also I got him down to his last bit of health and the hits were regretting but he was not taking damage.

Yeah, The problem with this game It was publicly known there would not be any anti-cheat
Now thats good if there is no hacker, servers has less information to verify.
But we all know hackers or thief will always take the easiest solution 1st

In your story the workers didnt do their job they forgot to install the door.
Even tho a door is still easy to get thru , it is still much safer.
They should had said they had a anti-cheat even tho they dont and use it as a dummey camera lol

Overwatch there is much less hacking because i heard Blizzard is nuts on that and will take private hack sites to court.

Lets be honest I dont have overwatch but there is no pc games that dosent have hackers in it unfortunatly
