Battleborn negative reception, irony, and sadness?

I love the art style of this game and what it is going for but it just isn’t clicking with me anymore. I have been telling people about this game for a long time. Getting people to sign up for the CTT and everything but right now I’m just not feeling it.

I love Borderlands and I respect Gearbox for how much support they have given to that game. I mean they are still doing patches for BL2. That’s amazing!

But the shooting and melee was never the best part of Borderlands. Now to make a competitive game with those things just feels weird.

I don’t get any feel for how my attacks are affecting the game. I feel like I am contribution nothing.

I am also afraid to get this game because you need to rely on a good community for this to work. People that want to communicate and work towards the same goals. That just isn’t happening anymore. People just talk in their personal party if at all.

Outside of loot, they were the only real parts of the game.

The guns, loot mechanics, level design, the Borderlands universe and the art design were my favorite things. I also loved the MMO quest style mission structure.

For me the shooting was decent and fun but it came after those things. For me melee was not great on a gamepad. And at the very end of my list was driving. I thought driving in Borderlands was pretty bad.

Saying all of that Borderlands 2 is my favorite game ever. I think Gearbox has so much talent.

Right now I want to love Battleborn. I may even buy it just to support Gearbox. But as it is I don’t know why I would play it. What is it that is going to keep me coming back?

If I had a good group of people that were using mics it would be great but nobody does. Borderlands works for me because I don’t have to rely on others to make it a great game.
What is it that is going to keep me coming back?
Outside of Borderlands (and TF2), no game really kept me coming back… I’d replay them because they were all there was to play (not that they weren’t fun), but the only real option was replaying the story campaign. BL2 sort of ruined that for me with its endless replayability. I do not anticipate another game that will steal this crown for me with the possible exception of BL3 (and how awesome would a game that’s more fun than BL2 be)?

My point is, I don’t know of any other game that will keep me coming back the way BL2 does, and we’ll see if Battleborn can pull this off. If not, and it’s just fun for a single-player romp through the campaign a couple of times, that’s fine: that’s been the first-person shooter standard basically forever until BL2 “ruined” it. If the multiplayer is somehow more fun than TF2, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

It honestly comes down to a lot of different things. People who have played the Borderlands series are expecting borderlands and don’t want anything different because they don’t want change of their routine of going to Gearbox for BL. I also believe that it’s Blind Leading The Blind, MOBA’s get a lot of hate from people and I hate to say it but people are just jumping on the hate MOBAs bandwagon, which is unfortunate but you can compare it to people hating Nickleback, at this point you don’t know why you hate them but you do, bandwagon. Honestly Gearbox has created this charming and beautiful experience for us, they have brought the funny and beautiful world from Borderlands and have mashed it with a MOBA with their own twist. No a MOBA isn’t original but the gearbox version is a fresh new idea that people just I feel are afraid of. I wouldn’t be worried of the blind hate because in the end the true fans and even new fans will come together to fight the evils of the Galaxy. In the end Battleborn is AWESOME AND A BADASS EXPERIENCE. The haters just can’t handle it. The badass breaks through their minds and it becomes to much Badassery for them to handle. (I’m pained to say a lot of haters haven’t even played the beta, some have so they can have an opinion that matters)

People don’t realize that they can play both games. They act like if it’s not perfect, it’s trash. I already bought Overwatch and will buy Battleborn once EA refunds me some money…

Brand spanking new player here. I just got into the beta but was invited not through pre-order. Not sure how that works. I have to say, it is growing on me.

If I could, I’d give you two likes, Pride. I joined the CTT because I enjoy the BL franchise and wanted to see what GBX was up to next. I’m glad I did because now I can’t wait until I can get the game into my hot little hands. I’m also planning on getting the SP sometime after launch.

I will be getting the SP on launch day, Gearbox has put so much into this game that I’m excited for the SP. can’t beat the SP price either

I’d suggest the digital deluxe if you can. Saves you another 5 bucks!

A post was split to a new topic: Nopetownville

I love this game but my eyes are still bleeding from yesterday’s session with Phoebe, so I can’t play it anymore. Typical 2K game.

I disagree I enjoyed the Combat of Borderlands very much along with the Comedy that followed. The storyline was probably the best part of Borderlands.

I never played Borderlands (and I probably never will) So I don’t care (one way or the other) if GBX makes another. With that said, I’m glad they’re making Battleborn so I can experience—in some ways—the cool sensibilities that existed in that game. Also, haters gona hate, doomsayers gona doomsay, battleborn players are gona whoop that ass.

I am a huge Borderlands fan. I wanted Borderlands 3. But, Battleborn is a different, but the same game. Battleborn is a Borderlands multiplayer. And they did it well. I have not seen a game were you could be losing badly, then all of a sudden you win the game. Great balancing in my opinion, right off the bat.

I am a Evolve player I know that feeling when a good game gets negative reception!

I really hope evolve did well enough for a sequel, the game is really good but does have issues and I would love to see how good a second one could be.
