Iirc it did have some major launch issues, but I believe they also came back fairly quickly and still retained a rather large following. Having cross play and a relatively large, open world campaign with PvP pretty much cemented that Destiny could still come back if the devs gave it the proper attention it needed. Which they did.

I believe Destiny also came out at a time when there wasn’t as huge a selection on the consoles, but I may be wrong. This console’s generation had a rather slow start if I’m right.

Battleborn on the other hand is still struggling a year and a half later as a whole and one system is long dead so… it doesn’t exactly look good. Future pitches for a sequel aren’t likely to garner much attention from publishers.

I blame the publisher, they couldnt advertise the game at all…

I remember 1 ad on Youtube, if it wasnt for my bf who got me the close beta i would have been so oblivious of the game.

I just hope the best for this game, it was exactly the right game i always needed but never knew i wanted.

When i want a brain death game i go play ow :joy: yes that game has strategy but for me is easier to play a game where all u do is aim for the head. I can go tracer/genji and do my own stuff picking the healers or be a healer like ana and stay safe or duel a genji or switch to brain death mercy if i get bullied by dva, genji and tracer together. If i want to get frustrated i can go zarya or Reinhardt :joy:

Further, Destiny’s upcoming sequel has grabbed mad hype. Best-in-show for PC at E3? Check. The consoles’ open beta is wrapping up right now, with a PC open beta on the way next month. If you can call Twitch casters & viewers an indication, the D2 open beta off primetime has outperformed BB on its best day.

But they’re fairly different games hardly worth comparing. And Bungie had all that Halo hype behind them anyway, which means Destiny was destined (see what I did there?) to succeed.

Best comparison I can find is Paladins. Battleborn is a better game, PERIOD. But Paladins is good. It’s finally on consoles (a couple months now IIRC), too. And I think it gobbled up a pretty big chunk of the pop that BB was after. Even with a healthy pop, there are complaints aplenty about its matchmaking system. But it’s got a PC pop, and BB doesn’t.

Man, if you tell me tomorrow that there’s suddenly a fresh crop of 3,000 new PC players on BB daily, I’ll be there. If there ever does come a season two or sequel, I’ll throw my $$$ at it. I love BB.

But part of love, real love, is knowing when it’s just a one-way, when you’ve done what you reasonably could, and when it’s just not gonna ever get right. That’s where I am with BB. If she comes knockin’ on the door some day, clean/sober, ready to do things right, then I will be ready. But right now I can see that our ‘teial separation’ was the right thing, and it’s just not gonna get better until/unless BB changes.

Yeah, I bought the game at half price on sale. Both times (once PC, once PS4). Digital Deluxe on both. And I’ve cash-bought Platinum before too. I was on for the first Community Day. At one time, I was grouping up via Discord with other players to do PvP modes; if we came across an obvious lowbie enemy, we held back to try to not ruin that experience for them. Etc.

I’ve given what I can. BB can’t give back a MP experience. We’re done here. And I’m pretty late to that party.

It’s unfortunate, but sometimes the cards just aren’t in your favor. I don’t remember the book’s title, but I do remember reading a book a couple years back that cited good luck (and timing) as a key component to success. You can make all the best efforts and put out something that’s groundbreaking brilliant, but if it’s not the right time for it, all the effort won’t matter.

BB had the deck practically stacked against it, and the few cards it did have in it’s hand weren’t utilized.

As much as I wish I could say I would happily throw my dosh at more BB content, I’m reticent to say I would. Personally, I don’t think BB was handled very well on multiple angles. Battleborn was fun and I wouldn’t trade away my time playing it, but there are times when I have to say something isn’t working and let it go.

This saddens me. A lot. But it’s never been the case in business that the best product is a good seller. And this is a business…

You forgot to add Gigantic to that. A lot of the streamers that were playing bb are now in Gigantic. Rather than just beta the game is finally released now and seems to be doing well.

There is no future when the forums are more alive than the game itself.

Couldn’t play Bots Battle again on PC last night. Only a matter of time before the dailies will be cut off entirely. I better cut my losses and pull out.

Did you guys know GMG is having some massive summer sale, for good or for worse?

I know it has nothing to do with Battleborn, but I’ll let you all think about it.

It just now got released but streamers like lifestrafe and jackfrost have been streaming it for months instead of battleborn while it was still in beta. It’s also free and fun

Cosmetics are 100% on their way. No gear will be added unless more PvE content is added, which isn’t on the radar, and more game modes may come, but they may not. And if they do come, they will be time limited. Characters? No.

Only the most hardcore remain, and those willing to put up with punishment from said most hardcore in hopes of becoming most hardcore themselves.

Aside from maybe some random and time limited silly modes, I doubt there will be any new content, aside from micro transactions to wring money from those who remain to spend on developing Borderlands 3 (which goddamn well better be the greatest game ever).

Battleborn, my 14 month, 1600 hour love affair with you was awesome, but now we must part, as other games and the real world are oh so sweet.

Honestly, it’s not even anything to do with the game.

I was going through some especially rough times emotionally over the last few months, and this led to me getting…shall we say…overly emotional…in a not good way…with a few of my absolute closest Battleborn friends, which led to an unexpected but unsurprising in hindsight cascade effect where other really close friends were forced to choose between myself and these other friends who I had oh-so-stupidly treated not nicely, so I lost, or at least was no longer able to communicate with regularly anymore, a decent amount of my closest friends.

So, after that unfortunate-ness, I found that every single time I loaded up Battleborn that was all I could think about and I would just get heartbroken.

So, as a result, Battleborn and I are done for the foreseeable future.

I actually just uninstalled it about an hour ago.
